From the aspects of the artistic quality, it isn't that bad.

There should be more Jews representation for animation.
This belongs on the board.

Favourite anime related Youtubers? Why especially do you like them? Is there even a point in watching one of them? Picrel and Pause and Select are definitely on of the better ones out there

The manga/anime industry is inherently anti-art because the creators are incentivised to milk the fuck out of their series untill no one cares about them anymore - even to a more extreme degree than the Hollywood franchises and TV shows. I'm sure you could find a good story in most mangas, the problem is that it's buried under the 95% unnecessary bullshit and it lacks the proper execution because it's created under a lack of time. The deadline driven nature of comics prevents them from entering a higher level of art. bumplocked: duplicate

>>5328 Read you faggot >muh generals <hurr lets make half-a-dozen different threads about how capitalism taints anime Your OP is literally: Anime industry [read capitalism] leads to non-artistic products, as money > art for creators, just like any other mass media (movies, tv series, etc.) because pragmatism and greed over-rule artistic expression or actual effort in execution due to the time/budget constraints on artists (see >>626)

>>4332 >>4335 Streaming anime is a bad idea because, in addition to other things I don't know the exact details about (you can probably Google it), the quality is a lot lower. It's better to just torrent anime off of nyaa.si. If you're too lazy: twist.moe is better, it's less likely to mine your computer for bitcoins.
>>4675 >quality is a lot lower Unless you're looking for HD resolution and doing more than watching things casually 720p is perfectly fine resolution TBH I don't care enough to bother with torrents unless I intend to use a downloaded video for more than just a single viewing, cause deleting downloaded files is more of a hassle than computer scan deleting temporary files from streams.
>>4678 Torrents are literally communism. Don't be a fag and help everyone out by seeding high quality anime, if at least temporarily. If you're still going to stream at least use an adblocker.
>>5008 >at least use an adblocker Why is this even necessary to say? Obviously I use adblockers, I've been using them for nearly a decade now.

>the author of Welcome to the NHK turned to spiritualism after shitting on religion on his works >also a decade of not doing anything at all later he's now making a fanservice-filled generic isekai with a hikki MC God it feels like Berserk all over again.
I find that a lot of people who spends their earlier years excessively and obsessively ranting and raving about religion and its 'evils' seem to be people who are just angry and hurt and in their later years turn to moderate versions of the things they lambasted.
>the author of Welcome to the NHK turned to spiritualism after shitting on religion on his works Considering NHK ni Youkoso was a loose self-biography this isn't very surprising, it's how they cope and why you find so many religious types on imageboards. Also it's a shame he sold out after being unable to write anything good or at all in so long.
Nothing's wrong with Buddhist spiritualism. It's good for mental health and to cope in neoliberal hellscape.

Finally watched Kino no Tabi after a years-old recc, and I'm curious what the broader analysis on it is, and where we figure it stands. I found the 2003 series was pretty left on a few topics, specifically how many countries provide an allegory for the flawed and ideological way people perceive work and its purpose. However I've been seeing a few wrinkles to that. I can't help but notice all the times in Kino no Tabi that a revolution against a king is exactly what causes a country to fail (not all but most, and most successful revolutions have the monarch secretly still hanging around,) begging the question of whether the show/books is ultimately projecting a Burkean outlook on the world. This is compounded by how much emphasis is placed on the individual, though this is somewhat inevitable considering it focuses on a solitary wandering protagonist. However that emphasis on personal responsibility could be easily reframed in a negative way; it would be easy for some right-winger to interpret "country of radio waves" in the 2017 anime, where random murders are blamed on a radio tower that turns out to no longer exist, so that the any sort of institutional critique explaining crime could be imposed metaphorically on the tower, reducing societal dysfunction to purely individual choices. I know that since there have been Kino stories for 20 years, most of what I've said may well be overturned in another tale--but do my my critiques stick? What do YOU make of Kino no Tabi? Also: Kino's 2003 hat is superior to the 2017 hat.

Do you have anything to say about this man?

One of my favorite works of Miyzaki's is Princess Mononoke, it contains social themes, historical themes and mythology of Japanese culture, blended into an excellent story.
Here's an interaction with a reporter who ambushed Miyazaki for a impromptu interview

I'm calling Asushin victory in the next Evangelion. I'm basing this a process of elimination and the ending of EoE. Kaworu is dead, Rei will be used in the instrumentality and Mari doesn't fit the ending thematically. Since the instrumentality will be started with 01 and Asuka lacks her Evangelion it's safe to assume she'll be in the middle of it. Barring Anno dropping a brick on her head she'll be the last one standing with a confesion. Tic toc Mariasufags, tic toc.

>>5100 NGE is unironically one of the best series I have ever seen in my entire life, 2D or 3D. I don't think it's pretentious at all. It's fan base, maybe. The movies seem to be milking off the brand, though.
