So what's your opinion on Inuyasha and Yashahime?
T. Lad who was born on the 2000 and doesn't know jack shit.

Inuyasha (the OG series) had a very, very strong start and has some nice moments here and there but I would not say it was worth my time watching it.

 No.5515

Inuyasha was a classic anime of its time, combining Japanese mythology with fairly good animation, good artstyle nd a fairly straight-forward plot. It stagnated a bit due to continuing longer than was probably intended, but still managed to pull off a decent show with a memorable cast and enjoyable story of a time-traveling/isekai romance. I enjoyed it.

The movies are free on Youtube BTW

Yasahime is like Boruto is to Naruto so far, only difference being we don't even see the main characters of the original. Animation, artstyle and plot don't seem to have much depth (yet) and to be frank the main character is just a boy who's "really a girl" rather than an actual Tomboy, >>2654
However so far it at least doesn't tamper with Inuyasha's ending, pretty smoothly transitioning to the next generation without backtracking into the prior series outside of being a spinoff.

It's also a little bit like Kyokai no Rinne

Jesus Christ is nothing sacred? Inuyasha's story was concluded, is everything going to be some disgusting fanfic sequel nobody asked for like Boruto in the future now?

So, was this any good, and can it be understood without knowledge of the other original series?

I don't know how I'd judge the anime now but I'd say it's a good weeb gateway drug. When I watched it as a kid I appreciated the creepy atmosphere it had while not scaring me from actually watching it. Some of the anime opening and ending themes are super memorable.

Maybe worth a casual, noncommital watch at the very least

One of the main problems of Yashahime is that it kinda occurs in a vacuum. Inuyasha had villages with distinctly drawn people, wandering bandits, movements of armies and of course yokai living ordinary lives just as a passing background, not necessarily plot related. In the modern world there are people walking down the streets and living in home driving around etc.
Yashahime is sort of blank and lacking in background characters of any kind; no people, or settlements or nothing. It makes the world feel unlived in, like it was some pocket world created by [Innovate Clear] - utterly unlived in. You even see it with the poorly-shaded and untextured artstyle, pic related has such a featureless bald man in the mid-ground it's actually amazing this got through editing.

>Inuyasha
The series was fine but teenage girls and their hormones means that the romantic byplay was their main focus and the Japanese obsession with sexuality only accentuated this leading to shit like fujos and husbandoism (i.e. where the dog fucker meme on /a/ comes from).

One of the things I'm happy Inuyasha didn't do is fetishize lords and monarchs, you'd have a nice princess or wealthy businessman but even then Miroku stealed from them, and generally they and the military are not seen in good light outside of a couple individuals.
MAL is often trash but they this short article is decent: https://archive.ph/IqAkC

Fujos and husbandoism is just as cancerous as waifus and various fandom [x] fetishists. The romance isn't really a problem, I had no problem initially (it just dragged on too long) but it lent itself to this kind of boring and irritating fandom behavior.

Apparently KyoAni had a hand in making Inuyasha, every day you learn something I guess.

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon - Episode 21 - Secret of the Rainbow Pearls
Pearls of Silver, Gold, Red, Orange, Green, Blue, and Purple. With your power combined I am Captain Pla… oh wait wrong show.
>Moroha finally got a head to take in as a bounty and be paid
<Moroha can finally give Jyubei head to lower her debt! and get laid
>The Rainbow Pearls were Lady Zero's TEARS
I know Towa is really into Riku. But just giving him the pearl is a little…
<Towa is 14 this whole episode is a metaphor for grooming
This sequel series is convoluted as fuck, the only thing holding it together is the meme-tier content and action. It's actually so confusing that people fail to predict it constantly; https://archive.ph/0uUXZ
Also I feel that, for very young characters, the protagonists have significant power creep, especially as seen in Season 2's trailer. https://archive.ph/IksUd They're pulling off attacks that rival Inuyasha's Kaze no Kizu casually and it's kind of excessive. Towa can become Full Demon and control herself, why did Inuyasha never learn this? Is this from the Silver Rainbow Pearl?

I have to say that some of the things in the series is good, grandpa Higurashi's kappa foot being actually useful is nice and the Blood Blade is an interesting development of the Blades of Blood technique. https://inuyasha.fandom.com/wiki/Blood_Blade

Honestly Yashahime feels like a fanfiction sequel of Inuyasha combining aspects of various villains and characters from the Inuyasha movies. Apparently not an unpopular opinion (ironically) either https://archive.ph/gFlpF

I find it funny that Koga becomes a positive character in the story despite being a human killing yokai that, until Kagome, held indifference to the suffering of non-wolf tribe beings. As the leader of a yokai wolf tribe, wolves are Koga's family, not his pets. While Koga is stealing a shard from another wolf-demon, he sets his wolves on the innocent villagers, indifferent to their slaughter. If not for Inuyasha, the devastation would have been truly horrific, and yet Koga is played off in the show as if he's a friendly rival.

Also does anyone have the clip of an anime convention dancing where one person was dressed as Inuyasha with his sword, one was Asuka from NGE and I can't remember the other's apparel.

how is it any different from adult males going crazy over hot female superheroes in Marvel or DC?

While the simping may not be any different, the stories of most Marvel series (at the time) weren't very romance focused, let alone having romantic subplots run entire overarching stories.
>a bit of fujoshi and fundashi fan art isnt all that bad.
Key word being a bit… it was not a bit.

I always thought Kagura dying in the end to be really sad. She started off as a typical cackling villain but developed into a compelling character, enslaved to her creator. By the end it was almost like she was becoming human and it would have been an interesting idea to have her actually become human at the end, a sort of reversal on the idea of how people could become demons.

Inuyasha can drag in places, but it's worth watching and has a lot of fun (including the films). Yashahime is like Boruto, poorly thought out and contrived.

One thing about Inuyasha that bothered me is that Kirara is heavily implied to be the companion of the original Demon-Slayer (Priestess Midoriko, who created the Shikon jewel, yet it's NEVER addressed.
