I feel like the industry push towards micro transactions and away from fully developed product is a way to hinder piracy online. I just download skyrim and the sims totally for free with no issues, but, I tried to download Starcraft II and It's a fucking mammoth of a task to get it to work properly with out an internet connect. How can we even go about pirating games that require online play or whatever nonsense they are trying to peddle to make virtually free and perfect commodities cost money,? Does anyone else feel this way?

>>342 Source code is not MOP but the end product itself. Means of production is, like, computers, internet, etc etc etc. The internet is actually more the perfect commodity Marx talked about. It's virtually free (in theory) and can do basically whatever we want.
>>343 It depends on the type of source code. Game engines, software libraries, etc. can definitely be a means of production.
>>344 I guess that's true. I am more of a code monkey rather than a developer for video games, but, I still think that ultimantly personal computers are what is and should be classified as a means of production. Ultimately, after out time has come, the distinction will cease to exist, as, all personal computers will remain person computers.
>>345 Think of it this way: Who owns Unreal Engine? The source maybe be out there, but commercial developers cannot make use of it without paying rent to Epic Games.

>>339 >hinder piracy The push to fight piracy is itself driven by the same motive as the stubbornness with which even limited refunds were granted, the abolition of demos, the fight against used games, the industry's tempestuous relationship with streamers/LPs, and the shilling of preorders: If people can try your game, they're less likely to buy trash.

Holy Grail of Games Anonymous Gamer 04/28/2020 (Tue) 00:01:36 No. 350 [Reply]
(214.02 KB 1280x1016 SimLife.PNG)
I liked tinkering around with SimLife, but I never really understood the appeal of most Sim "games" to be honest. The goals (and thus the actual "game" structure) were often paper thin.
>>351 SimLife and SimEarth weren't "games" in any meaningful sense. The purpose was to play god and covered the world in flying molluscs or keep spamming natural disasters or whatever. The other games (SimCity, SimAnt, SimFarm, etc) actually put you in the world to some extent, so you had a sort of guidance.

Leftist tabletop games Anonymous Comrade 04/07/2020 (Tue) 13:15:30 No. 5608 [Reply]
any other comrades injected leftistism into a tabletop game and if so did it actually make an interesting game?

>>5624 I see that and I want to kill myself. >>5608 Some years ago, I've heard about the tabletop game "Deuda externa", foreign debt, it even has a page on ecured about how to play it. The problem it wasn't very pppular when it was sold in Argentina.
>>5624 Ms. Monopoly pisses me off less because of the retarded sexism and more because it's an entire new commodity to sell for what's literally just a fucking house rule.

>>5627 >animal cross Why do I see this game lately everywhere and what is so special about it?
(202.59 KB 960x659 IsabelleDoomguy.jpg)
>>5633 It's just the newest release in the series came out right on quarantime. And 'people' had been 'meming' Isabelle+Doomguy crossovers due to the juxtaposition of cutesy gardening game with animals vs 'le Rip and le Tear' of Doom. Also it being a cutesy gardening game town building simulator thing makes it a cozy simulation for interaction when stuck in the house.
>>5634 What is the difference to Harvest moon?
(223.64 KB 1400x1400 ACNH.jpg)
>>5635 I say 'gardening' because it really isn't a game about farming at all. In prior games you were either the citizen or mayor of a pre-established town and you do things like: fish, get wood from trees, get iron from rocks, pick up weeds, do errands for townsfolk/tom nook, garden flowers, catch bugs, and I'm sure I've missed some things. In the newest one you're actually building up a new town from scratch by doing these things. All of the activities are ultimately just to build up money or 'bells' to make your house better and/or the town better, and to buy random shit. It's fundamentally similar to harvest moon in being a 'life-sim' of sorts and its core loop, but nothing like harvest moon's 'intense' farming gameplay, that is focused specifically on that and is rather in depth from what I understand. Though I've never played much Harvest Moon or even Stardew Valley so I'm less knowledgeable about what I assume is your domain. That's all I got

>>385 tbh vlandia is based around the post rome barbarian led kingdoms who had knights (not the meidival ones just nobles riding horses with some chainmale armor) So i was just fucking with you Althouhg those mask/helmet things they have make no sense
>>371 Empire because fuck nationalism.
So, I started my own kingdom, taking up a comfy corner of the Western Empire, but the nobles keep slipping out of my dungeon like it was made of paper. I was thinking about trying to play it cool and soft and keep some kind of diplomacy open between my Commonwealth Republic and other kingdoms, but I guess THIS IS A REVOLUTION NOW KILL ALL NOBLES OR SELL THEM TO SLAVERY It can't be helped. They just keep popping up with ever larger annoying bands of peasants if they escape or I let them go, which is a slow grind and attrition I can't afford. Sorry. FUCKING DIE!

Is anyone playing Kards? It's a new Hearthstone clone about WW2.
Kards is absolute shit. I played for 2 hours when it was in alpha before it even released on Steam and the monetization model is so fucking greedy it's insane. You had to win like 15 matches or something just to get a single card pack. Gwent is better.

Daggerfall Unity only takes 1 minute to install and mods are easy. Follow the video instructions. The files needed are here: Game files: https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B0i8ZocaUWLGWHc1WlF3dHNUNTQ Daggerfall Unity: https://www.dfworkshop.net/projects/daggerfall-unity/live-builds/ Recommend these videos for info on mods: https://youtu.be/GyElwUjh3og https://youtu.be/yINjviYSO3s Mods are easy to install. All you have to do for most of the mods is go through to DaggerfallUnity_Data > StreamingAssets > Mods -- dump the dfmod files in the mod folder... But certain mods will have questpacks and instructions. You place the questpacks in a questpack folder and sometimes another folder depending on the mod. Recommended Mods:

>>392 You can play a rogue/thief like character. Those usually have critical strike still in primary along with dodging w/ short blades. And backstab somewhere in major. Illusion and mysticism might also work well with that build.
>>389 Where can I find daggerfall mods?
I was unaware this game is still as popular as it is.

So, I am at the part of the game where you have to go talk to the royals of wayrest && daggerfall and shit, but, they all hate me cause I am an argonian and I only made Royals hate the shit out of me cause I am a larping communist retard. What do? Who the fuck am I actually supposed to talk to because the kings and queens don't actually give me information. The queen of daggerfall has a quest for me, but, I can't do it yet until I am a higher level. Do I just have to keep doing quests for the nobles? Also, how do I recognize these fuckers?

Spanish civil war videogames Anonymous Gamer 03/31/2020 (Tue) 17:15:31 No. 405 [Reply]
I've noticed a lack of Spanish civil war games, especially shooters. The thing is that there exist many mods for popular games about it, so there is an active comunity looking for one.

Why aren’t there any American Civil War video games?
>>410 there's even a rather good looking shooter one existing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dXcHUcpTM0
Latest HoI4 DLC has a lot of Spanish Civil War content, including tankie, trot and anarcho-syndicalist paths.
>>405 Some years ago there was a Spanish-made RTS named "Sombras de la Guerra", but it sucked ass. There's a COD2 mod, but the only big games I know have official SCW content are Panzer General 2 and Hearts of Iron. >>410 There are a ton, but most are PC strategy games.
