Skateboarding Anonymous Comrade 08/06/2020 (Thu) 03:39:08 No. 14576 [Reply]
Anyone into this shit? The upcoming housing crisis is an open door for more backyard pools to skate.
>>14576 >>>/anime/571 is a related thread, chek it out for lulz
>>14609 I didn't see many skateboarders when I was in Japan, unlike in the US. I used to live in Southern California and saw vastly more skateboarders there. I never got into it though, and I suspect it's not as popular as it used to be. Honestly, I never had a good place to do it because it was too hilly, and then I lived somewhere where the sidewalks were too close to busy streets to do it safely, and then the cities started banning skateboarding everywhere to prevent people from grinding the curbs and damaging them. I had a great Tony Hawk skateboard, but I never learned to balance well, and now I'm of an age that it becomes dumb to even learn because the older you get the more likely falling will break bones that won't repair.
>>14723 There's a neighborhood in Tokyo which is very american. I forget the name. You can find a lot of american vintage clothing shops, very cool. There's also a small area where people skate. My city is un-skateable, so you have to go to skateparks or specific parks to see people skate. In the US depends where you are, some cities are very skate friendly, others aren't. LA, SF are very skate friendly.
>>14724 Oh I've been to that neighborhood, but it's extremely small, about one street long when I was there and as as ugly as a street in New York. Japan town in Los Angeles or San Francisco is bigger than that "american neighborhood." Both are 3 blocks long at least. >My city is un-skateable, so you have to go to skateparks or specific parks to see people skate. One of the cities I briefly lived in was Lake Forest, CA. They have a large skatepark there which was sponsored by VANS, and lots of people wore VANS shoes in the 90s and 00s even if they weren't skateboarders, because that city is the headquarters of VANS. I didn't live there long enough to learn it though at least that city is flat. I feel like I'd have been drawn into skateboarding if I had lived there. I remember skateshops and places that sold skateboards all over the malls when I was growing up around there. Honestly though, I think I'd rather have my future kids get into another sport. At least with surfing kids pick up that cool dude accent more and a better appreciation for nature and the tropics.
>>14723 Skateboarding is reviving again due to COVID. Just last week my homie who works at a skateshop, sold one of the last few boards that are in high demand. This isn't a random occurrence either, it's obviously due to the supply chain being backed up. there was a point in time I wasn't feeling skateboarding, due to my depression , alcoholism , and social media causing it to become saturated and uninspiring. I manage to get out of that rut by keeping my drinking on check, eating healthier foods, getting a new hobby(boxing), taking shrooms and just deleting my instagram. Since then, my rate of progression started to pick up again and my passion for it grew stronger. Despite the shitshow we're in rn, skateboarding is one of the few things that keeps my mind at ease.

yea been lurking here for a while. guys have recommended some great books by Marx et al. honestly though can't fight a revolution if i'm not blowing out the back of the most bougie bitch i can find in these endtimes. No cap, you know? would rather die lol SO come in here anon, let's talk about books, articles, vids, podcasts, etc that gets someone down the virgin-to-chad pipeline. Anything that gives some serious and decent advice on making better personal choices in your life for your emotional, physical, and intellectual wellbeing.

>>13463 >just be a chad with tons of interests and a defined career path that will make you lots of money bro
>>13755 This is the loser inside talking. Everyone has interests, so lean into them. Everyone can figure out a carreer path and at least attempt to stick to it. If you aren't doing this, then you're just a lazy asshole. Being a socialist doesn't mean you get to stop living in capitalism. Is it a fucked up system? Yes, but you need to make the attempt. You're always going to be a loser if your main plan is to wait for socialism to fix everything. Protip: That shit ain't happening any time soon. So work on yourself and go for what you can. You don't have to make a lot of money, just don't work at McDs for the rest of your life because you didn't want to think about it.
>>13756 >If you aren't doing this, then you're just a lazy asshole You don't know me or my circumstances, so fuck off. My education growing up was fucked for reasons out of my control, so now I'm 21 and have no clue about what to do with myself and i'm just wasting away in community college. And I wasn't even using capitalism as an excuse or whatever, but if we're going this route you really sound more like one of those bullshit self-improvement bronze age fitness narcissists on twitter more than anything.
>>13758 Not the same anon, but if you don't have a clue just pick something mildly interesting with some demand and stick with it. Sooner or later you will get more experience and better conditions. >>13753 At least you get a fresh start and plenty of opportunities to interact with your peers. I didn't usually hang out with classmates outside class or school activities at my high school (I was kind of a newcomer) but at least I could talk and have fun with them. It's probably because of how management treats their employees but my workplace is full of fascist envious burnouts who just want people around them to fail like they did, and for whom any oportunity is good to spew their hateful nonsense.
>>13758 >growing up was fucked for reasons out of my control, so now I'm 21 and have no clue about what to do with myself and i'm just wasting away in community college. Then figure it out. You are in shit circumstances, but the fact that you're going to any college at all means you can get an associates, or other degree. You aren't retarded. >but if we're going this route you really sound more like one of those bullshit self-improvement bronze age fitness narcissists on twitter more than anything. Believe it or not, self-improvement shit actually has something to it. I'm an avid reader of this material, and though I know it isn't a solution to a deeper problem, I don't post on bunkerchan about how nothing can ever possibly get better. This is like incels complaining about showering and going to the gym when they don't shower or go to the gym to begin with. Yeah, it won't fix every issue, but start there.

Why was 80s music so much better!?
>>13403 Because nobody remembers or posts any of the shit stuff so you have the best selection of a full ten years available.
>>13403 Nah 80's was shit. So many prog and art rock artists whored out. Now the 70's.
What subgenre of classical is usually played in Maoist and ML songs? It's usually rather symphonic, but I have a hard time distinguishing between classical music overall.

Stop eating processed food Anonymous 07/25/2020 (Sat) 02:42:57 No. 12651 [Reply]
Stop consuming bourgeois food. Junk food, sodas, sweets, etc. are a bourgeois invention of the capitalist epoch made for addiction and profit that your body doesn't need. You must eat organic food, drink water and if you can, grow and hunt your own food.

Seventeen Moments of Spring Anonymous Comrade 11/18/2019 (Mon) 02:52:46 No. 2805 [Reply]
This Soviet TV series is probably the best TV show ever made. It is pure кино and deeply anti-fascist, anti-imperialist, and anti-USA. It's about a Soviet spy sabotaging peace talks between the OSS and Himmler (to allow the USA and Nazi Germany to team up on the USSR). It was made at the request of the head of the KGB. The tension and drama in this show is outstanding!

Reposting related Quote from the Soviet film "The Great Citizen" (1937): "Oh, twenty years after a GOOD WAR, get out and take a look at the Soviet Union - composed of lets say thirty or forty republics." On January 1, 1937 as part of the so-called USSR there were only 11 republics, implying that that USSR has planned to annex at least 20 European states during WW2. Communist propaganda also portrayed total war as a noble fight for internationalism. After the war the propaganda has drastically changed, now claiming that USSR is the "Bastion of Peace" (СССР оплот МИРА). But there is a catch, since in Russian language both "peace" and "world" have the same word "mir" (МИР). So when a Russian says "we need mir", he can mean botch "we need peace" and "we need the whole world". The Soviet movie itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXQo1o4RrpI

Buildings should last Anonymous Comrade 05/13/2020 (Wed) 20:57:19 No. 9523 [Reply]
So many fabulous and easily maintained buildings have been demolished because of short-sightedness. We shouldn't be vandals of architecture. We should preserve the Penn stations and the Russian cathedrals of the world, and not just demolish our monuments. We should rebuild some of them as well. People don't just have utilitarian needs and need a "spiritual" or imaginative side which is opposed to efficiency but which startles you. https://youtu.be/09gsVlroH3A

>>11999 So is Senegal an "M-L" country in the same sense that Mozambique and Angola are? (i.e. totally revisionist and authoritarian Capitalists like most African countries anyway) Being that they're actually willing to do token things like work with Based Koreans. Anyway, I think the statue is a fine piece of socialist realism, but you shouldn't be building pretty statues when your country suffers from severe underdevelopment and wealth inequality. Out of 189 indexed countries, Senegal ranks 166 for human development thus putting it in the lowest tier. IMF colonial horseshit of course keeps them down in many ways, but leadership that builds a nice fucking statue (that I'm sure won't be maintained) over literally anything else is shooting yourself in the foot.

>>9829 exactly it's not so much that modern architecture or modern construction is shit its more like porky wants to extract as much value as possible with yogurt carton luxury condos and office buildings, that and a lot of rich people just have shitty taste. >>11999 Despite being very click-bait brutalism the spomenik monuments to commemorate victims of fascism are legit siq. They were mostly locally commissioned from living yugoslavian/baltic artists and I think did a good job in reimagining what a "war monument" looks like but still being relatable and striking. So many classical/ western culture concern-trolls forget that there are a lot of "classic" structures/ architecture that are just nostalgic fakes - confederate statues, neo-classical architecture, entire "medieval" towns built for the Worlds Fair etc
>>12019 >"medieval" towns built for the Worlds Fair Got some links to that, sounds interesting!
>>12016 >So is Senegal an "M-L" country in the same sense that Mozambique and Angola are? No, but the DPRK has good relations with many African countries whether or not those countries are ML since they supported anti-colonialist struggles across Africa. Also Angola and Mozambique are officially socdem since the 90s.
>>12044 Africa has gotten pretty revisionist or even reactionary since the USSR fell, sadly
