Does anyone on here follow breadtube i've been bit dispirited with it lately tbh it was since about the time Dr. bones got cancelled... it's nothing to with the lies about them being pedos, rapists or catfishing themselves they are mainly Kiwifarms conflagrations, its more the infrequency and nonchalance of their output, and the arrogance that implies. are there any other sites lile MeansTV with specifically lefty stuff? Or have you got any reqs on people i should be watching?? please say there is leftygab or Dlive or something. im just so sick of centrist media and the endless/bottomless stupidity of it.

Can we get an /x/ thread going for any and all weird shit, serious or not? Since this is probably a majority materialist board, skepticism is welcome as well. As a kid I was really fascinated by stuff like the paranormal and ufology. Not much of a believer anymore but every now and then I'll read about someone's experience or see a photo or something which causes me to pause and think there might be more to the universe than we think. Anyways, I just started playing Deus Ex and it got me back into that sort of mindset. Figured I'd make a thread and see if any anons were interested.

>>7573 Even if we are talking in a materialistic sense. I always believe in the zoo hypothesis where our solar system is actually heavily monitored by other civilizations on our economic development. With all of them being post-scarity cybernetic communists. That’s why even though posadism is a big meme I still think that any species that can explore space would be communist. Maybe capitalism is our greatest filter yet.
Fidel Castro was clairvoyant.
Please don't. We have enough schizo-posting as it is.
>>7585 Use this as a containment thread then, if you think someone's being a little too schizo direct them here
>>7585 Redirect every schizo to this thread lad.

Knitting Anonymous Comrade 11/23/2019 (Sat) 23:47:36 No. 2916 [Reply]
Yo, I wanna knit some shit. I already have the sticks and the yarn. Hook me up with some basic patterns and tutorials. I want to do a scarf first, something straight and simple.

not op here, just an anon. your thread has inspired me to take up knitting but I’m starting with embroidery to get the hang of it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24lR2IRS57A Good beginner tutorial for making a scarf. She talks a lot in some parts but everything is explained clearly. That said, I started and stopped about 3-4 times. It's not easy pulling the same amount of yarn every single loop to make it even. I wasn't even paying attention to that in the beginning and it came out looking uneven. This shit is not as easy as it looks.

>>7717 >It's not easy pulling the same amount of yarn every single loop to make it even. Yeah, that can be difficult at first. I made a similar scarf when I first started learning (though I used a much thinner yarn and needle size) and the loops were very uneven, especially in the beginning (there's also a big hole because I dropped the needles while I was knitting and I didn't know how to put the loops back on). By the end I got used to it and it looked a little better. So don't worry if it doesn't look as nice as the one in the video, it's you first scarf after all. When you want to make a nicer looking project you can correct your mistakes as you go, but now you just need to get the hang of knitting. You can reuse the yarn later, so you could remake it once you get comfortable, don't worry about wasting yarn. >This shit is not as easy as it looks. At first yeah, but it gets much easier. As you do it more often you're gonna be able to knit while watching a movie or something, you won't even really need to look at it. One more thing though, I don't think the style of knitting she's using is very good. There are two main types of knitting you'll see: English knitting (the one she's using) and continental or speed knitting. English knitting (I hope I'm not using the wrong name) is when you put the needle through a loop, wrap the yarn with your right hand and then pull it through the loop like you see in the video. Continental is a bit more complicated, but I think it's much more useful. I learned how to do it from these videos (and from grandma) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsFZg2Bn06E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIzuKBuJkZw&t=102s Basically, continental knitting (when you hold the yarn in your left hand) is much faster, because you use your hands more efficiently. It is also much easier to control the tension so that you get even loops, and you move your hands much less which is nice if you don't want to get carpal tunnel syndrome.

>>7720 Wow, thanks for that. >Have you finished any projects? I'm >>7717 and >>5333. I was trying to get it right the first time, but your post encouraged me just to knit. You're right, the first one shouldn't matter. I hope I'll have something significant to show in the next few days. Gonna check out continental knitting as well.
>>7732 After you learn how to knit and purl you should spend some time to learn about the different types of fabrics you can make by combining knitting and purling. This video shows how to make the most basic stitches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD5Cgu-CCF0 It's important that you learn them because you'll use a combination of two or more in most projects. But don't worry they're not difficult (except for the seed stitch maybe). Other than that, have fun! (and be patient)

>>7727 i always thought these kinds of games where kind of a good metaphor for being millionaire, just chancing numbers, no substance behind it, just like a millionaire has more money then he could possibly spend and being useless for him a player of one of theses games just tries to get a number higher without the number being good for anything

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgQy70_LPS4 I have no interest in liberal identity politics or their moralisms about pronouns, the two 'journalists' are shallow pricks deserving scorn. However Ben is also disingenuous, and is deliberately provocative. The reaction of this transgender person is honestly understandable considering the situation. Imagine some snooty white dude - who looks and behaves like an edgy 15 year old - is talking smack and bringing up non-sequiturs about something in the lives of people like yourself while knowing nothing outside his own political dogma. Its the kind of behavior that in any other circumstance would get him a smack up the side of the head. Trans debate is important and Jenner's "bravery" is a PR-stunt, but to denigrate a mental issue with "muh genes" is the kind of derisive rubbish reserved for private arguments between friends and not public debates.

Is anyone here interested in any of the competitive aspects of smash or is it all just fun and games?
>>6794 For funsies, plus patting myself on the back for spotting references and remembering where a song is from.
I haven't played for hundreds of hours (yet), but I just got murdered, saw my opponent grabbing the Smash Ball and a Blue Shell while I respawned, and I got murdered right again, so here are my unsolicited opinions about improving Ultimate: 1. There should be more mobility when you respawn, like flying around in a UFO for a bit and then jumping out of it or something like that. 2. Item spawning should be balanced around character speed and position. For the basic idea, picture a flat stage with two characters standing there. A single item can spawn in the middle between the characters, meaning when both characters start running towards it simultaneously, the faster one will grab it. A more fair reference point for spawning is wherever both characters would meet when they started running towards each other simultaneously. Of course, items only ever spawning exactly at that reference point would be pretty dull. Instead, this could be used together with some randomization and a tracker checking whether there is a strong trend of being particularly fair or unfair towards a player in how the items have spawned and this potentially triggering a different spawn point to make up for that. You also need to take verticality into account, but that's the idea basically. (Perhaps something like that is already in the game; if so it's too subtle for me to notice.) 3. The Final Smash Meter as an alternative to the Smash Ball seems like a really half-baked idea. I think it should take longer to get the F Smash from this (especially with characters that have a very strong F Smash) and when the bar is full, I think it would be more interesting if the character pulsated in and out of the state where you can do the F Smash, like 1 second in, 2 seconds out, 1 second in or something like that. 4. Attacks by slow characters should have more hitstun. 5. There should be an automatic slow-mo replay of the kills after a fight because I often have no idea what just happened. I feel like I'm Joe Biden driving a car. Where am I? Who just got killed and how? When somebody got killed by stage hazard or an item, a little line of text explaining what it was would be helpful. Oh my God, I really sound like I'm getting senile :(
6. Items are really overpowered. They should modify your character's abilities, but it feels rather like your character vanishes for a while behind the awesome power of the item. EITHER Items should get a big nerf across the board, from how long gust of wind, the hammer, the invincibility star etc. are active to how often you can swing the big baseball bats and swords OR a kill with an item should count for half as much as a non-item kill. Or maybe both.

Does anyone know the "language" of flowers and flower arrangements? I don't remember much about it, but it sounds intriguing. Also if I remember correctly certain flowers are used for different kinds of medical toxins/poisons used by people in the past (such as Belladona). Pic related
>>7382 Depending on where you are you may have a government department that catalogs that information.

Godard Anonymous Comrade 03/18/2020 (Wed) 22:13:07 No. 7100 [Reply]
Do you like Godard movies? Probably most famous leftist director. Do you think he doing disservice to socialist ideas by obscuring them? I love his 60s movies: Pierrot le fou, Weekend, but i must admit i dont understand his latest movies, maybe because i dont understand historical context. I watched Film Socialisme today but i dont know what to think about that, can anyone explain what does he want to achieve?
Can't really help you with his later stuff, but I've enjoyed all of his early New Wave works from the 60s as well. Contempt, My Life to Live, and Alphaville are personal favorites.

I'm not a film enthusiast (far from it) but I watched La Chinoise on a weed edible. It was great.
