History of /leftypol/ Anonymous 11/23/2020 (Mon) 12:57:41 No. 1162854
Any oldfags here? Let's have a thread where we discuss the past of /leftypol/. tell us more about the most interesting moments from our history, tell us about the dramas. why did leftypol and leftpol split up? who were the e-celebs posting on leftypol? Were we the most hated board on 8chan? this and more in this thread.
>>1162854 >not having the 2020 reddit migration crisis
>>1162857 the all died in the labor camps
I don't remember too clearly when I joined, I think it was just around when the Rojava controversy was starting
>>1162878 so 2017 probably
>>1162857 Feking redditards comings to this civilised leftist board from redditorstan-abad,imposing thier culture and beheading people in the streets screaming"THANK YOU FOR THE GOLD KIND RACIST!" we should really consider closing the borders and DEPORTING every single one of them,or shooting them at the frontiers with our based ak47 guns.
I was here just as the catgirl discussion started around r/MEME_COMMUNISM or something I don't know the name of the subreddit. And from there, I am here.
>>1162886 So,a redditor. Tell me at least you've read a book
>>1162889 >bookfaggery you need to go back
>>1162854 Joined in early 2020, 2018 in my soul
>>1162893 To where? The library
joined in late 2018 if i remember correctly
>>1162854 I remember porky meme created but not alanya.
>>1162854 joined at at the start of the pandemic, but have heard of this place already in 2018
Been here since 2015/16 roundabout. One thing is for certain, oldBO was a cretin and the board is better off without him. Let it be known, harsh moderation and forced discourse by unqualified unelected mods is what killed /leftypol/. Beyond argument or refutation.
>>1162889 The controversy was in fucking 2016~2017. I'm probably more of an oldfag in /leftypol/ than 60% of this website.
>>1162857 The what?
Been here since the first week bucko
>>1162854 this thread feels like second hand idpol, you are [insert duration] tell me why i'm wrong and this why this is wholesome
>>1162931 60-80% of the site are redditors or cuckchanners who came in for the election, riots, being kicked out of Reddit, etc which is how we managed to hit 400 pph. I still can't believe after all that bullshit we couldn't get Cockshott to join.
>>1162947 No, you're right. This thead is cancerous, but it's to be expected that we would see this masturbatory shit from oldfags.
4/lit/ master race. Came here after the /his/ lobotomy.
>>1162953 There was someone who linked him /leftypol/ and he said the site was difficult to use.
>>1162953 cuckshitt is reddit incarnate
>>1162953 >we couldn't get Cockshott to join. it's better for his sanity. imagine if he really joined
>>1162975 The guy can't even get a decent Micro and some Anons expect him to navigate this place? I mean come on...give him a break

btw what was it with us and Murdoch Murdoch? did /leftypol/ get them banned? if we did then, then good job, because they keep whining about it to these days. I've heard it was because of /pol/ mass-flagging Bat'ko's videos. is that true?
>>1162977 his new video has crystal clear audio
I joined back in March of 2019, do I get oldfag bragging rights considering I joined before the Great 8chan Exodus?
>>1162985 Yes, it was because of the mass-flagging against Bat'ko. iirc /pol/ was inspired by the BPS faggot to do that, and then when /leftypol/ took down Murdoch Murdoch they cried about muh totalitarian lefits lmao
>>1162990 because the CIA gave him a new microphone, duh.
>>1162990 >1 Video out of 40 with a good audio
>>1162955 >No, you're right. you a agree with me yet you use their identity, well aren't you a walking contradiction, what a conundrum that is.
>>1162854 Damn so this place always sucked.
Can anyone explain the checkers shit in 2014? What was that all about?
>>1162993 >leftypol/ took down Murdoch Murdoch they cried about muh totalitarian lefits lmao lmfao >/pol/ was inspired by the BPS faggot yeah, I remember that video. he even claim that Libertarian socialist rants is leftypoler, lol
>>1162999 Pretty much. Enjoy your stay.
>>1162985 Correct.
>>1163005 Some rightard kept posting threads of this nature >Hey commies, why do you believe [thing that nobody believes], dont you know that [logical retarded conclusion from strawman]? He kept doing this so long and so often, with the same topic and accusations, kept sinisting we believed and were the sjw whatever people he said we were despite us pointing out we were not, that he became a meme. At some point someone made the post in pic related.
>>1162854 2017 should be Bookchin and a [banned] message to symbolize the schizo oldBO

btw, was Kraut and Tea browsing leftypol? because he made a video about us back in 2017 https://archive.org/details/youtube-uHLBTpMUvjA and also did a livestream with our e celebs like Bat'ko, SocOrBar or GoulashGuy. https://archive.org/details/youtube-bcn9f78ugbU did /leftypol/ take part in the "Trout and Tea" drama?

A short greentext history of /leftypol/ >2014..15? Leftypol created. I came somewhere in 2015, so the creation of leftypol is somewhat murky to me, but if the tales of old are too be believed, there was some kind of exodus of /lit/ posters that made up part of the userbase of the original board, pretty much all were left wing chan users, sick of the /polyp/ hegemony. At the very start, I think it was mostly very hardcore tankmasters, with a few highly radicalised anarchists, not the idpol types, at this point the anarchists were kinda gnarled old crustpunk types, I remember distinctly a conversation about some anarchists who used to break into churches in their youth. At this point, a lot of the userbase was still like this, it wasn't a load of students, it was a load of misfits and strange people. To its credit I do say. When I found the place, the board was split roughly in two by anarchists and MLs. As such, two major memes were on trend, Hoxha and Stirner. The board didn't have very many users, there was around 3-400 unique IPs, but the users that did use the board were highly dedicated, it was still fairly fast and comfy even with this small amount of users. At this point also a very wide and diverse variety of topics was discussed, all different kinds of leftist ideology, there was sort of a culture where we would dig into obscure ideology in particular and meme about it. There was a wide range of ideology as I said, at this point we had a strong mutualist contingent, a bunch of insurrectionary anarchists, syndicalists and anarcho communists. Also transhumanists and primitivists and so on. They were given the time of day more back then as well. This was complimented by a jucheist, hoxhaists, etc. At this time also, we were still at the stage where a good proportion of the invading /polyps/ were ancaps. We spent in equal measure long threads debunking both the free market and race realism. Fascists who posted in good faith were allowed to stay. These were some of the best threads honestly, many memes were created as we bullied fascists as a group. I'm sure there is a lot more to be said but this is my general memories of that time on the board. Personally, I must have been one of the first way of immigrants to the board, which I discovered after 8chan was involved in a mass shooting or something, and somebody on 4chan /pol/ told me to go to /leftypol/. Other notable things: a anarcho nihilist poster tried to get a commune going in detroit, plans were made, but nothing came of it. I have long suspected this poster is Shaytan. >2016 around about 2016 there were several features of the board, for starters, the election campaign of Trump brought in large amounts of people, a lot of them less radical types, a lot of new people. There was a strong libertarian streak on the board, and because of this, and because of the Syrian conflict, there was a lot of posting about Rojava, and many posters picked up the ideology of Bookchin/Ocalan. For a while, this was a good 30% of the board. Around this time was heaps of bookchin memes, also other memes cropped up, which we made, such as the "coming for that toothbrush whitey" meme which was created in a thread arguing with a libertarian. By this time it was pretty common for the board to pick up certain books, then several posters would get the book and read it, and that would be kinda what everyone was reading and discussing, bookchins ideas were those. However, as people started to realise some of Bookchins more liberal ideas, posters started looking further back, At this time anarchist communism became the ascendant ideology, at one point polls showed about 60% of the board was anarchist leaning, with the majority of these ancoms, a bunch of bookchinites also. Around this time the size of the board was increasing very rapidly, with a lot of happenings going on and a lot of content being posted. There were many fbi.govs sprouting up, we had lots of dubtrack sessions. At this point were converting a lot of fascists, every couple of days we'd have a thread of somebody like "i can't believe I used to be a fascist" Also at this time there were many memorable namefags. Satan Nazi for one, was a crazy women, who was very attractive, who was a sex worker. There was also Hoochie Minh, a Vietnamese mental health nurse, there was Rebel Absurdity, Milo. There was one skitzo poster who would intermittently write walls of skitzo babble that lasted posts and posts. Many other name fags and odd people on the board. >2017 in early 2017 this peak board status continued, although now alongside the anarchists a new meme breed had emerged, the leftcoms, many anarchists began to read Marx, and many of these became leftcoms, leftcommery became the new fashion trend and soon the anarchists and tankies would be equal in thirds to this new position. Around this time also, a group of /leftypol/ anarchists had got together to form an "action front" and did graffiti and other small actions, co-ordinated from a fbi.gov. At one point it had a decent amount of members posting graffitti from several countries, the UK, America, Australia, Germany, Holland and Italy. However, this was happening simultaneously with increasingly erratic behaviour by the oldBO. It must be remembered that before all this old BO said on several occasions he hadn't read any theory or books at all and got all his takes from twitter. With all the new posters coming in, the BO saw the board culture as under threat from noobs. While it is true, there was more libshit posting, we were converting many many from the libs and the right. BO could not handle seeing takes he didn't like however, and began banning people who were critical in any way of Iran/Venezuela etc. On top of this, he had decided that Rojava was an imperialist project, and began harassing and attacking the pro Rojava posters, which was the time a majority of the board. Through use of bans, wordfilters, and thread derailment and deletion, he suppressed talk of Rojava. This resulted in a schism, the board split into /leftypol/ and /leftpol/ the moderation on /leftypol/ became increasingly heavy handed, funposting, which had been the lifeblood of the board, was more or less banned. A huge majority of the best posters left, things became very stale and stagnant. /leftpol/ had the opposite problem of zero moderation at all. >2018 2018 was a dark year for leftypol, the board became slow, the discourse increasingly toxic, with a hard core of the most deeply autistic posters in a dominant mode and old BO still having temper tantrums and killing of the board in many other ways. The banning of fbi.gov for example, made it difficult to have more off board adjacent communities. This was part of wider policy of everything having to be under mod control, which destroyed so much discussion. The one light is that around this time the board became cockshott pilled, cockshott was certainly the meme ideology of 2018. I posted very little around this time except to complain about the moderation. there was very little discussion to be had. >2019 the board continued circling the toilet bowel, until by the grace of god 8chan was nuked, and all the posters migrated to bunkerchan.
>>1163150 I didn't proof read this so I'm sure I missed out details and interesting stories, maybe other old users can fill in. There is plenty little beefs/wars that happened that would prob be interesting to newfags. Like getting Richard Wolf to shout us out, or that time some autist went to a Zizek lecture and asked him a question including reference to " a funny meme I saw on /leftypol/ " all that kind of stuff
Anyone wanna buy an abandoned warehouse in Detroit and start a hydroponic farming commune?
>>1163150 For one thing, I remember we got a big load of posters when reddit /r/socialism banned catgirl posting.

>>1163168 yeh thats it ahaha, so funny what a legend. >>1163150 just realised the world filter fbi.gov is dis.cord.

>>1163067 >what exactly happened? socialism with us military bases characteristics happened but seriously, there were real cancerous bookchin and rojava threads that pissed off everyone, and I mean EVERYONE it was a total shitshow, a case of mass psychosis
>>1163179 BO only made it worse by dividing the board.
the majority of the board was pro Rojava. It pissed off a minority of autistics who read too much Phil Greaves on twitter. It is worth noting that more than one /leftypol/ poster of this period actually went and volunteered in Rojava. A fantastic legacy, /leftypol/ can claim a pedigree of posters who engaged in armed leftist struggle, this was sundered by somebody who admitted they got all their info on twitter, because they had repeated temper tantrums and couldn't handle being disagreed with. Truly shameful
>>1163183 A majority was pro Rojava until over a dozen military bases were put there by Americans. BO definitely helped tip the scales, but don't pretend a majority of the board was fine with Rojava being turned into one big military base.
>>1163187 neither of us is going to be able to prove this, I respectfully disagree, but even you admit BO did have hand, a significant one, in what went down. It would have just been normal, healthy, board beef, instead it became the calamity that destroyed the board, quantity of poster, quality of poster, meme output, community in general. Honestly in my more skitzo moments I wonder if the feds got to old BO. he was an early 8chan poster so the likelyhood of him having a dodgy harddrive and them having this leverage is pretty likely.
>>1163194 Christ anon. Did you ever talk to Che?
>>1163179 >socialism with us military bases characteristics happened Seriously, why is it Ok for China to do "Realpolitik" and engage in questionable alliances, while it is not for Rojava? Being a supporter of Rojava is not less "leftist" than being a supporter of China at this point.
>>1163202 my tendency good your tendency bad
>>1162854 2015 oldfag here. i miss the good old days lads
(68.47 KB 680x453 pic091.jpg)
I have a vivid memory of fighting some great war in a pixel painting game where we would paint the red nazi flag into a soviet flag, then ancoms would paint the half of it black, tank would sperg out, then someone would paint a raibow contour around a flag, then everyone would sperg out, and then would counterattack and recapture parts of their german cross flag we called it The Great Patriotic Pixel War good times
>>1163201 I said in my skitzo moments. I don't really believe it but >emerging radical leftwing community >growing stronger by the day >out of nowhere an extremely retarded argument splits the board Considering the amount of intelligence OPs we know for a fact were centred around the alt right and the chans, it does make sense that the feds would know about bunkerchan. We were also a direct impediment to their plans to use these places to radicalise people for neo gladio ops. If it actually happened is complete conjecture, no proof, a whisp of a theory, but all the elements are actually there. If I was a fed, I would have each major chan board modded by an agent for sure, and I definitely would have tried to fuck up the left wing one which was actively taking away my converts. >>1163215 this is literally it, it was petty sectarianism at its core that split the board. Not I might add, from the most advanced section of the boards posters, but from an extremely unadvanced poster who just happened to OWN the place
(299.90 KB 1071x900 castro cosplay.jpg)
I really wanna know how this board reacted to the news of Fidel Castro's death. Must have been pretty hard losing one of the OGs in this day and age.
>>1163150 > I have long suspected this poster is Shaytan. bold accusation
>>1163240 it would be too his credit if it was, wasn't an accusation.
>>1163249 You're nuts my dude. n1x is not Shaytan, that's 100% sure.
>>1163259 forgot about N1X. was it him that did the commune thread? That would actually fill a big hole in my chan memory I would like to be filled
>>1163179 I actually "googled Bookchin" when I was new because I didn't get it was a meme.
>>1163262 >him umm sweatie
>>1163262 I'm not sure if n1x was the one who made the thread, but xir was very active and engaged with it.

>>1163259 >>1163262 Is n1x that Twitter transhumanist that writes about "trans accelerationism"?
>>1163259 Wasn't it n1x who made /dead/ tho and isn't it Shaytan on hidden extra board /dead/ now?
>>1163264 it was and it wasn't just like read bordiga (you should)
>>1163194 Che's paranoia is what caused disaster. His delusional conviction that codemonkey was out get us resulted in a forced migration attempt, that failed and its shockwaves devastated everything.
>>1163264 Like all the best memes, it partly wasn't a meme
>>1163269 Probably. >>1163271 Yeah n1x was BO of /dead/, and I bet Shaytan posts on /dead/, but there's no BO. But dude, their personalities, posting style, ideologies etc. are so extremely different, even though they use(d) the same flag.
>>1163269 what's n1x's twitter now? i followed them on an old twitter account that got nuked, now i can't find them again
lmao, even fucking Sargon of Applebees was talking about us back in 2017 https://youtu.be/UgNhO8lMINw
>>1162854 2016, I came for the Catgirls
>>1163278 Don't you find it a little odd that throughout the history of leftypol there has always been solidly a poster with the anarcho nihilist flag, usually only 1 poster an ideology that few if any subscribe to, that poster also has always been this big character and was the BO of the board that that same anarcho nihilist flag posts on. I don't think the personalities are all that different but maybe I'm wrong. Also strange that there is secret special /dead/ indicating that said anarcho-nihilist post leftist who owns dead has some kind of sway with the mod team and is therefore probably an old fag who has been here a long time, possibly a mod themselves. Now very possibly there has been several anarcho nihilist posters, I just find it out that it has become the flag of the resident post leftist big character and it has been consistently that way for the entire history of leftypol without interruption, right from the start as far as I can gather. >>1163286 this is what he took from us
>>1163278 also what I failed to mention is that both that old poster and Shaytan have both posted about their abusive childhood, I believe. Also some other stuff, but I don't want to make that kind of a claim when I'm working on mostly educated conjecture
>>1162936 Been here a week bucko
>>1162854 I don't know, whenever the leftypol/leftpol split happened
>>1163344 >Don't you find it a little odd that throughout the history of leftypol there has always been solidly a poster with the anarcho nihilist flag, usually only 1 poster an ideology that few if any subscribe to That is just not true. I was one of the nihilist posters in 2014, and used their IRC. >I don't think the personalities are all that different but maybe I'm wrong. You are very very wrong. Shaytan is just your average shitposter, while n1x would write pages of theory. If you want an idea of what n1x was like, read xir's essay http://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/n1x-hello-from-the-wired n1x was much more similar to the nihilist that haunted the board during CHAZ. >Also strange that there is secret special /dead/ indicating that said anarcho-nihilist post leftist who owns dead has some kind of sway with the mod team lol what the fuck are you talking about. I am a mod and I can tell you that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You draw dumb conclusions from half truths and straight up make-believe shit.
>>1163365 okay so why is it that there is this secret board that exists but doesn't.
>>1163375 Because /dead/ on bunkerchan was older than /leftypol/ and they wanted their board back, so we obliged, but we didn't want it on the list.
>>1163378 who is "they"?
>>1163375 they're the oldest of oldfags
>>1163386 Usually i wouldn't associate with nazis, but hitler managed to kill one of the most important right wing figures of his time so i think you might have a point there anon.

>>1163515 From his own words, he wasn't a communist of any sort when he founded /leftypol/, just a left version of /pol/ with maybe some vague OWS style populism. From there, I'm not sure exactly which moment he became a turbotank. One rumor I can't substantiate is that he joined some Stalin Did Nothing Wrong ML sect near the end of 2017. The guru saw the board and demanded that Old BO clean up the "revisionist wreckers" so that's what he did. After the first major wave of bans, Old BO claimed that /leftypol/ was now a recruitment board for later "serious discussion" on /marx/ (cult of personality board around Ismael, one of the few tankies who actually reads).
>>1163588 >From there, I'm not sure exactly which moment he became a turbotank. One rumor I can't substantiate is that he joined some Stalin Did Nothing Wrong ML sect near the end of 2017. He started following communists on twitter and became, in his own words, a twitter tankie.
>>1163588 >Ismael is he still alive?
>>1163571 >I remember several /v/ vols doing it too That would explain the incredible double standard their for off-topic political bullshit near the end. /pol/tard schizo posting long off-topic screeds about jew developers and cultural marxists? No problem. Even a small bit of pushback on their verbal diarrhea? Banned for off-topic.
>>1163365 wtf this is based
>>1163720 Based. Do these still get made, and if so, how can I get in on it?
>>1163748 They don't get made anymore, Bat'ko left all online spaces after being diagnosed with depression.
>>1163765 >stop making based OC because one person logged off All it takes is someone to write and someone to sing. If 4/v/ can do this shit, so can we.
>>1163784 What I meant was that these songs in particular were all coordinated by him. I'm not telling you to not make OC, it's just that this guy asked if these still get made and I answered no and gave the reason why.
>>1163499 OldBO's paranoia about /leftypol/'s deletion were absolutely justified, sorry. There was near constant effort to compromise /leftypol/.
>>1163815 These were commissioned by GETchan (King most likely)
Oldfag Dengist here, y'all can fuck off. I've been banned in 2017 when I suggested China would be something worth investigating. The Leftcom and Bookchin fags who cried a fucking river everytime old BO would ban someone (by the way, 80% of old BO's bans were justified, only a portion of them was a spergout), but were completely silent when a ML would be banned for equally shit reasons. Fucking hypocrites. Also, let's not forget when all Anarkiddies and Leftcoms got their own board to create in their image, /leftpol/, and it became a complete shitshow with no moderation at all - kind of tells you why those tendencies never go anywhere IRL.
>>1163812 When 8chan went down for the first time, Jim Watkins and Codemonkey purposely restored /leftypol/ the last, after /mlp/. That was basically a declaration of open hostility towards /leftypol/.
>>1164183 That's not really the fault of the leftcoms or anarchists. /leftpol/ was created by Space, and seeing how he acts (or lack thereof of any action), it's clear by now he's always been like this. Just grabs the opportunity to have some attention by owning an imageboard and leaves it completely abandoned while staying on Twitter all day like a faggot.
>>1164183 I will fund the sites upkeep for 3 months if the mods ban this fella again

>>1164192 Yes, but the users could also self-discipline themselves a little bit, right? It was way down the board list, so /pol/ didn't go there. There were some really, really toxic anons there, for example an AnCom that was obsessed with posting schizo rants against feminism and femnazis. The "anti-IdPol" accompanied with constant transhumanist posting (the fake picture of BO) quickly made the board right-wing IdPol, like a more crass version of r/stupidpol. I'm sure some ex-/leftpol/acks now hang out there. Space's "hands off" approach also had unspoken support there as most users there demanded unmoderated free speech just to be the counterweight to BO's periodic purges.
>>1164201 BO didn't ban me for defending China, some Trotskyite/Leftcom/Anarkiddie butthurt mod did. Literally the best board on 8chan was /marx/. Ismail had a free speech approach but still destroyed all the infantiles with walls of text, so they stopped going there.

Joined leftypol around late 2016 to early 2017 when I was a zoomer. I remember Afroplasm and the Baboon poster. The time when we hacked some shitty YouTube ripoff and shut it down. The moment when Zer0 books did a AMA here. That ancap faggot Love Life and Anarchy spurging in threads. And many autistic moments that I somewhat forgot. Good times
>>1165031 If i remember right it was a thread about the politics of bioshock.
I do remember out Catgirl draw friend and how we defended her, when the twitter fags and reddit thought that cat girls were mysgonist and banned their only female user on their subreddit or whatever. Defend the cat girls. Fight for our culture. Also the rise of Posadism was great during that point thank you based Posadists posters back then, now I have become enlightened and wish to do the same for everyone else. Ayy Lmao

>>1165680 You gotta have to admit that pure anarchy like in /leftpol/ led to an ever quicker collapse. Old BO overreached, but a sensible moderation like we have now seems to be necessary. Remember that all boards the jannies ignored sooner or later were taken over by /pol/, even lit. The format of imageboards rewards things like inflammatory bait, anti-intellectualism and crass hateful contrarianism, something antithetical to the left. If this shit is allowed to fester, it would quickly turn into some form of fascist-adjacent cesspit; or just completely degenerate into shit-, gore- and pornposting. You need some form of moderation to preserve a leftist imageboard. Even /b/ on here is moderated to a degree because we can't allow a board that would basically function as a beachhead for /pol/ or agent Kochinskiites into this website. The problem was that old BO moderated along sectarian lines, which was not something the userbase agreed to.
>>1165742 it's cringy shit like tankies and dengists mostly. Actual quality discussion remains firmly in ancom/leftcom/ultra circles. Although I think most ultras are either cockshottists trots or bordigists by now.
>>1165768 >You gotta have to admit that pure anarchy like in /leftpol/ led to an ever quicker collapse. No. The issue was that the board was too small to be sustainable from the very beginning, and thus it was partly reabsorbed into /leftypol/. When that is said, the crackdown on Bookchinists did irreparable damage that forced OldBO to resign as is still recognized as having left a huge scar in the community by a LOT of the vols.

>>1165792 >it's cringy shit like tankies and dengists mostly. Actual quality discussion remains firmly in ancom/leftcom/ultra circles. Actual disconnection from reality. In most threads "anti-Dengists" basically spill all their spaghetti while Marxist-Leninists try to contain it and write longer responses to them, with no reply. Just check this thread for example: >>1158419 - no responses to "Dengist" arguments. It's also fucking embarrassing that you'd call the biggest faction within the communist movement "cringe", like, I guess all those revolutionaries and communist parties don't know what they're doing or what? It's been fucking years since I've seen a "good discussion" amongst anarchists. Even if they post coherently, most of their "critique" boils down to "hurr durr authoritarianism" and nothing nuanced, which does exist in some anarchist bodies of work, like by Malatesta. Leftcoms? There was one orthodox Bordigist on old /leftypol/ who was alright because he wasn't needlessly sectarian. Here, there is "Ed Saard" which I haven't seen since a while but that guy is a total pseud and has been exposed here on several occasions. There is also a guy I know from old /leftypol/ who is a Leftcom that posts smoking anime girls who seems to be interested in good discussion but haven't seen him in a while here. I think he changed his positions towards something more Cockshott-ish.
>>1165820 >Gishgallop means I win
>>1165799 >No. The issue was that the board was too small to be sustainable from the very beginning, and thus it was partly reabsorbed into /leftypol/. That's the cope department calling. /leftpol/ got a fair number of users, and Bat'ko, Muke and Pierre promoted the board on their YouTube channel and Twitter accounts. All the Rojava fags went there, even a few MLs disillusioned with BO, and some other people banned for various reasons. It wasn't a fast as /leftypol/ but it was still a board you could browse multiple times a day and participate. Considering that BO continued to act upon sectarian lines against the will of the community, it could have siphoned a lot more /leftypol/ users. The owners pinned a thread saying they wanted this board to be democratic too, as in, there would be user input. They never followed up upon that. Quickly the anti-IdPol shit totally went out of hand. Mind you, this was before /pol/ discovered it. There were already signs of impending decay, basically few days after the board was created. I'm an oldfag and an eye witness to all of this, and I posted on /leftpol/ since the day it was created, and I didn't shitpost.
>>1165823 That's not what gish-gallopping is. Gish-gallopping means you bombard your opponent with a sheer quantity of sources, which are simply to many to debunk on the spot, and then declare yourself winner of the argument.
>>1165820 How psycho are the ancoms here? Are they the generally normal type, or the kind that would shoot Fred Hampton on sight for being a red fash tankie stalinist?

>>1165930 Also post-purge /leftypol/ went down to like 200-300 users by the end before the coup of oldBO, the decline of the userbase was consistent across both /leftpol/ and /leftypol/ and it was only reversed with the end of the split and the ousting of oldBO
>>1165930 What's scientific about claiming that smaller boards can grow when they form around an issue that's speaking to a bigger clientele (in this case, BO declaring himself a godking)? /leftpol/ had a shot, mods and userbase tanked it. No reason to sugarcoat it. /leftypol/ itself started with a handful of /lit/ refugees but quickly grew as well, because people were thirsting for a counterweight to /pol/ (and all the lolberts became fascist-adjacent and went off the deep end).
>>1165945 >What's scientific about claiming that smaller boards can grow Fact: splinter-boards on on 8chan almost always died Hypothesis: This is not because of bad moderation, but because of a lack of critical mass of posters, as this would happen regardless of who the mods were Wow EZ
>>1165900 Tankie is a term which originally referred to members of the Communist Party of Great Britain that followed the Kremlin line, agreeing with the crushing of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and later the Prague Spring by Soviet tanks; or more broadly, those who followed a traditional pro-Soviet position.

Old BO turned on the IdPol question, and actually started to ban anti-LGBT and anti-feminism stuff consequently after the creation of /leftpol/. He also had a strict policy in regards to unironic NazBol posting. I'm not saying that /leftpol/ was full of fash, I'm saying it was the precursor of a development we've seen with r/stupidpol, that when your unifying issue is to be anti-IdPol (which /leftpol/ was, explicitly so!), you imperil yourself to slide into right-wing IdPol. >>1163150 I have been posting since august 2014 and I can elucidate on some of these claims. >there was some kind of exodus of /lit/ posters that made up part of the userbase of the original board This is only *partly* true. A much more relevant factor, whether or not it sounds humiliating, was gamergate. Gamergate was a huge consumer-revolt and disillusionment with consumer-culture and industry-deception, so that did have some left-wing elements. Those people ended up on /leftypol/. Some people pretend that we're a /lit/ splinter, but that's only 20% true. It's where we got the Stirner-meme from, but not much else. This is mainly born from the fact that some leftists pretend to have read a lot more than they actually have. >At the very start, I think it was mostly very hardcore tankmasters, I mean, if this was true, I didn't notice it. Hardcore tankies mostly felt bullied and went off to form their own little board called /marx/. There was a LOT libsoc from the beginning, even more than there's around today. >When I found the place, the board was split roughly in two by anarchists and MLs. As such, two major memes were on trend, Hoxha and Stirner. At this time there were no unironic hoxhaists on the board. I know because I made the "Hoxha bunkers" meme, and I was an anarchist at the time (communalist today). The few unironic hoxaists around were bullied and hung around on /marx/ instead, and MLs represented MAYBE a third of the board, with anarchists being 40% and the rest being socdems/reformists. >Satan Nazi for one, was a crazy women, who was very attractive, who was a sex worker Satan Nazi wasn't the sex-worker. >tfw socdem gang is dead and mostly forgotten >tfw a lot of the effect is lost without the context of ~2017 /leftypol/ half the fun of this stuff appearing was the direct contrast between the clean appearance of socdem gang images in proximity to the ridiculously deep-fried and antagonistic nazbol gang memes and their various spinoffs, most of which went further and further down the line of absurdism and degraded image quality. maybe i'm overthinking it, but they really seem like incredibly multi-layered jokes to me: the absurdist idea of a gang of social democrats. then the idea of a gang sticking to such a clean cut aesthetic (down to the use of a relatively consistent logo). an incongruous "tankie" tendency, always ranking the USSR above neoliberalism. an embracing of just how boring social democratic ideology and theory is, and all of this in an environment parallel to TONTY BLAIR WAS NAZTROT simultaneously offering an equally absurdist and somewhat coherent, boring response. but with MADE BY X GANG mostly dead, the people behind it largely being purged by old BO, and the general tendency to clearly flag ideology gone it's hard to imagine there will ever be anything like it again.
>>1166033 Yeah, but if we're breaking kayfabe I'd also have to tell you that Satan Nazi never posted her tits, that was just a falseflag to mess with her that became board lore

>>1166049 if you try to learn about irl posadism it is all mostly reasonable stuff albeit blocked behind a language barrier since it is almost all in spanish, the dolphins evolving to sapience and aliens and nuclear was stuff was more just postulation on natural sciences and geopolitics and stuff from left perspectives.
>>1166053 It's a remerger iirc we got the /leftpol/ board owner as site owner w/ the demcent volunteer team that took over after the very polite board revolt that induced oldBO to resign
>>1166053 Typical leftist splitting. What was /leftpol/ and how was it different from /leftypol/?
>>1166059 It was a splinter-board that was fed up with the kind of moderation that went on on /leftypol/. Mainly OldBO really messed up and split the community is two, something from which our community has NEVER recovered. Although it has been getting a lot better in 2020
>>1166059 /leftpol/ was a split of people banned by or who disagreed with oldBOs purges it died not long before 8chan was nuked but at that point /leftypol/ proper was so weak (down to 200-300 members and constantly invaded by /pol/) that some 80-100 some /leftpol/ers came back to /leftypol/ and between them and pressure from the moderation caused a coup of oldBO. The new admin basically tried to heal over the split as a simple matter of survival, the ban lists of oldBO were completely undone, and what was left of the two boards fought as one until 8chan was hilariously nuked and we activated bunker protocol to regroup once again here.
>>1166064 so at one point in time some leftists had leadership disagreements and split into two communities with near-identical names? I'm sure you guys have already made this joke before but that's pretty funny
>>1166069 as a /leftypol/ tankie I'd like you to know I batted for you too in the very polite board revolt, it wasn't just the moderation and returners kept trying to get oldBO to ease up on youse the whole way through too
>>1166055 good thing i speak spanish
>>1166103 I mean even on /leftpol/ there were plenty of dissenting tankies and weird political alliances like the ancoms and maoists who got along well, really I would say that a lot of the /pol/ "conversions" from /leftypol/ of that time were really just recruiting up whatever /pol/yps they could to shore up oldBO's support on the homefront because their actions were pretty well disliked by the community, and that half-baked conversion was also why we had a bunch of reactionaries on issues like trans rights and being incels and all that when the board was overall pretty socially progressive before either way I think of it as largely water under the bridge now, oldBO is definitively gone as a figure of /leftypol/ politics and the membership either has long since stopped caring or is new enough to not really know about it.
>>1166106 I hope you can also read spanish because good luck finding an audiobook for an obscure latin american socialist

>>1166262 >the owner made a post implying that they might abandon the board at some point /leftpol/ had 3 BOs. The original BO later gave the board to Space. I never wanted to make a competing imageboard, which is why leftist.site was of a different format than bunkerchan. leftypol.org and supremereality.us were the bunkerchan alternatives.
The biggest impact this board had on the actual world was the "gang" meme. It was the original NazBol meme where pictures would be signed with "this was made by NazBol gang", quickly NazBol was replaced by a variable so a meme format was created. After half a year I saw "this was made by XY gang" posts on Twitter and even Facebook. Finally the meme was played out and sublated, with "gang" now being almost a part of youth jargon in English-speaking countries, like "based" or "cringe". It's both fascinating and scary that all this originated on a small, fringe communist board. I guess meme magic is real after all.
>>1169571 There was another leftist forum which some people were promoting around that time. I don't remember what the exact name was.
Came here just before the US 2016 election. Caught MANY bans (including a permaban) during the BO spergout. The main thing I miss about old /leftypol/ were the 300+ post threads duking it out between MLs and leftcoms.

I've lurked on 8chan, /leftypol/ and /marx/ since the beginning. 8chan as a whole was very small back then, including /8pol/. Came to 8chan from Krautchan after a couple banned KC attention whores/namefags created /21/ as their asylum on 8chan and produced a bunch of funny anti-KC memes & drama on the German chans. Neither /leftypol/ nor /marx/ turned me into an ML, i'm ML since basically forever. I have to say that i like bunkerchan's interface better than the old one for better usability, however there are more radlibs and actual glowies here these days, which has done no good service to the overall quality of the board. I prefered the old BO's hardline moderation style.
>>1169746 Deleted his account
>>1169746 iirc he became very disillusioned with the state of the left around the beginning of this year. Went super doomer and deleted all his videos. Sucks a lot tbh, I understand if he wanted to quit politics but I think deleting his channel was unnecessary, there were some good videos there.
late 2015/early 2016 oldfag here. Mostly lurk the news threads and happening threads nowadays. Leftypol and leftpol split because the BO back then all of a sudden decided to want to turn the board into an ML board and would do things such as ban pro-rojava posters. We were one of the most populated boards on 8chan at the time and the BO purge caused the population to drop p drastically. There was also a decent network of content creators and we did have some success breaking memes and being a social force to rival /pol/'s meme force what with making stuff like porky and bunkers before bo did the purge. Some MLS liked the purge anyways and defended old BO but almost all other ideologies hated BO for it. There was kinda a network of posters back then: >bat'ko probably the most well known one, the aussie anarchist that made meme vids who left after going too idpol and stopped posting content in general shortly after that due to personal issues. Most MLs hated him. >Finnbol Finn ML. Idk if he ever posted on the board but he did associate with people who did. Was eventually exposed for doing creepy shit with an underaged girl. >Xexizy/Muke Leftcom brit, a lot of people hated him because he was p uneducated in theory yet made theory based videos. Stopped posting here after leaning more idpol too. I think a few years later now that hes read some theory he makes some good videos. >Schnitz US Titoist turned ML who made meme videos and used to associate with Finnbol. Idk what he does now >Maoist Hoxhaist Hoxhaist US Red Guard member who got exposed as being a literal pedo. >Pierre Tru-Dank Canuck Leninist/De-Leonist(?). Idk if he ever posted here either but he associated with people who did. Makes meme n theory vids. There was also a p large unofficial fbi.gov back in the day that broke up due to drama. Yes we were the most hated but also one of the most popular boards (Until old BO did the great purge.)
>>1163150 Holy shit dude you just reminded me of the Detroit commune plans. Also I remember Hoochie. What ever happened to her? God fuck old BO.
>>1170033 Don't forget Danov, another fairly large leftypol YouTube channel that died
>>1170059 Oh yeah Danov. Also there was Goulashguy the Aussie-Hungarian who had a thing for left nationalism. Also I'm p sure there was an actual Belarusian guy who used to post here? I wonder what he thinks of the stuff that happened. Also some dude who made meme vids in a mexican wrestler mask who associated with him?
>>1170084 (me) Alright so the guy in the mexican wrestler mask that made meme vids was tk_jones and I think the Belarusian was Eastern Marshlands? He apparently did a podcast that stopped doing shit in like april this year.
>>1170033 FinnBol never went on /leftypol/, the guy is general secretary of his party, he barely has time for his videos. Bat'ko was hated for being a retard and a sperg, also a complete turncloak who started sucking up to the most toxic people on Twitter, eventually had radlib takes on everything. His meme videos weren't that good. They were based of /pol/ but that's not a good thing - most of the time he just screencapped good threads and showed it in a video with le funny music behind. That's pretty low effort. Schnitz became an unironic Jucheist and then just disappeared from the internet. Pierre definitely posted here, I had interactions with him. I find him cringe, takes himself way too seriously and the edginess feels forced. Muke did not read more theory. He spouts the same shit he does since years "abolish the value form or you're a red fascist", literal retard. He did not have time to read because he works on his physics degree. Also has been offered a job at MasterCard, so he'll probably be very wealthy and become a neolib.

Was the Cockshott wave really 2018? I didn't browse old leftypol much after the Rojava debacle and 2017 British election but I remember Cockshott being shilled from 2016 at least. Think I read TANS maybe autumn 2016. Really miss the old board tbqh, the ideological diversity was better. There are almost no leftcoms here now. I remember one Trotskyist. And there were loads of anarchists. I also preferred all topics being in one board.
>>1170507 Reading TANS really changed me and played a huge part in my political journey, as well as the booklet "An Introduction to Marxist Economics" another anon recommended (he's still around here somewhere). The thread that really catapulted him to prominence was the Empirical Marxism thread, where Cockshott was finally discovered and appreciated. From there he gained popularity, peak spam occurred in early 2018. It's possible that there was one and two anons shilling him before mid 2017, like I occasionally shill Mike Macnair's Revolutionary Strategy now, but the Empirical Marxism thread was the turning point.
>>1170692 That is true but he is also overblown as a hero to communists, maybe a hero to radical social democrats
>>1170663 I think Zizek is held in high regard because he was the gateway to leftism for many here. Extremely random, autistic, like I said probably schizophrenic, but he was hilarious.
>>1170744 >>1170748 Debate culture needs to come back, these were some of my favorite memories of old leftypol (2017fag). The best moment came from a splinter debate of this, Jack Angstreich vs. Academic Agent. Academic Agent, on the verge of tears, shouted that he had read "ALL THREE VOLUMES [of Capital], TWICE!", but when challenged on that claim he couldn't define a concept laid out in the first chapter of volume 1. Link to the debate is here, I don't have the timestamp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oQ02sTO6PM
>>1170754 >>1170755 am i the only who remembers afroplasm being a bit of a mong? maybe he was personally chill, but all i remember is him making stupid posts. not just sakai shit, but also questions you'd only ask if you'd grossly misunderstood something.
>>1170760 I'll be honest, I don't remember too well to give a proper answer. I think my thoughts on him are mostly clouded from nostalgia, so chances are there was nothing special about him.
>>1170760 honestly same sentiment as this guy >>1170769
>>1170748 >>1170757 It was great, we don't have the presence now that we did then and one of the reasons is the lack of debates. If nothing else they were funny and made /leftypol/ well known. God this board was much better then. >strategizing for them like it was a 12 round boxing match kek >>1169616 I mentioned that earlier, yeah it's kinda funny. Pretty sure tfw to inteligent also came from here. >>1170760 I don't remember much of him. I'm sure there was someone else who used the Pan-African flag who may have also been annoying.
