You should play real, manly games from the 90s

if you didn't feel acomplished after doing the missions and you got bored, this game isn't for you. Cause that is all the game.

I couldn't handle the hour long cutscenes and "saving America" bullshit

 No.31937

I loved spending 16 hours of my life watching Norman Reedus slamming back can after can of Monster™ Energy Drinks.

 No.31951

I wish the game leaned more into being a sim than a halfstep between that and arcadey. The gameplay stops being interesting after a few hours.

Reason i stopped playing this game. that was some bullshit. as well as the america-fuck-yea stuff and like OP said i sucked with the BT's too it was annoying.
Also my huge critque of it was no climbing mechanic in a game that is just walking, with a large part of it being in mountains, probably the most retarded decision of this game worse than the fucking monster energy drink adverts.

Ironically enough I found the early game where you just have ladders and rope the most interesting part of the game since running into a body of water or a mountain forced you to improvise a solution. Then later on you get to build roads with trucks and ziplines and the game might as well play itself. They also try to introduce an oxygen mechanic based on elevation or something near the end of the game that could've been interesting but it comes so late and you already have plenty of tools to avoid the areas where you'd need it.

Kojima has always been a cocksucker for America. Most of his favorite movies are American. At least in Death Stranding it looks like Iceland or whatever, and it's trying to save the world or something, they can't really travel to another continent I think.

I bought Death Stranding at full price not knowing if it would be good, people were so split on it though that I knew it had to be special nonetheless. It's too highbrow for the general "gamer" audience to comprehend.

While "walking simulator" is typically a pejorative for a game that contains no gameplay, Death Stranding actually successfully gamifies walking which is typically taken for granted. The progression is environmentally satisfying in the way that real hiking is as well.

I really don't think it's highbrow, it's just a combination of Metal Gear and Euro Truck Sim.

across this thread for the most parts nobody issue is the walking, it's everything else… like stopping at walking and forgetting climbing and disperate features that did not go together, jumping from forced sneak game to forced 3rd person shooter at random points. nonsense.
>highbrow
mechanics can not be highbrow or not imho, it's what you do with them and this game didn't do a lot.

That actually sounds kinda interesting.

Yeah it's a pretty fun game, to me the biggest downsides are the repetitiveness (but that's partly my own fault for grinding sidequests) and the wankfest story/cutscenes. IMO directors shouldn't have too much power, and this is the result. Of course studios can force artists to churn out a bland mess but they can also force them to have focus and consider the audience.

I think people need a game where they can just relax and walk around aimlessly while looking at grass sometimes… But then again, there's Breath of the Wild.

The third way is to run the studio like a co-op and have the workers collectively either decide how the game design should be or they elect somebody to lead the design to avoid a too many cooks situation.

I mean yeah that would be superior I guess.

True. In socialism the raw files for everything should be available, including like movies and stuff so you can re-edit them.

Blender does just that with their movies iirc. Sintel, Big Buck Bunny and others are available as project files so you can fool around with their various assets and rerender then however you like.
