Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
Painkiller: Black Edition
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening - Special Edition

Please do note it is better to play the PS2 version of DMC3 through PCSX2 instead of the PC port, because the PC port is a shoddy direct one.

i rly like what you got going with the recommendation, they're all games I'd like to play except for that prince of persia, which I tried and wasn't my thing, but i'm not in the vibe to play these games right now. would you mind recommending some more? you don't need to post the cover art of all of them, it's too much effort

I am currently playing Kings Bounty games. Really good tactical RPGs, should run fine, and are turn-based, so its fine even if they dont.

Got you covered.
Grab freedoom or doom iwads, and you can play the ever increasing caboodle of fantastic doom (mega)wads. Sunder, Sunlust, Valient, BTSX, Eviternity – there are genuinely too many to list.
For campaigns I can recommend Ashes (2063/Afterglow), Adventures of Square, and Rekkr.

Do the same with the Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge files and you can try Mental Omega. That's a good 200 hours right there, not even counting skirmish.

OpenMW with Morrowind, which gives you access to Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel.

Blue Wish Revolution+ is a great, free STD that can run on windows 2000. There are more out there, but I'm not that well versed in doujin shmups: I'll leave those recommendations to our resident STGhead.

Also try flashpoint. Tons of fun timewasters on there if you're willing to look.
That goes for all of video games by the way. Many of the best games ever made were released before the PS3/Xbox360 were even conceptualized. Only requirement is willingness to put in the time.

Finally, the best version of Spelunky is free and resource light.

Good list, though Dwarf Fortress or Cataclysm will be sloooow. Starsector is also a great simulation game that you can sink hundreds of hours into.

Persona 4 golden – HOT CLASSIC, really fun on hardest difficulty, (just be experienced with persona already)
Ocarina of time + Majoras mask – in that order
Binding of Isaac rebirth

Honestly, it's overwhelming how many games you already have available with those specs.
That's why when people say, "Linux has no games" I point to the years of games it has minimum compatibility.
