Pedro fucked up by turning on his supporters and trying to dissolve the bourgeois democratic institutions immediately. He didn't know what to do with the position he won and squandered it (and also potentially was a grifter the whole time anyway).

>Almost instantly couped by the military
He provided them with the excuse and justification to do it in the first place. He thought he could pull a Fujimori without the support of the military and police, he would still be in power if he hadn't betrayed his allies and tried to dissolve parliment.

>So what happen to the communist president of Peru?
He was not a communist, hell his previous party was a center right one (Peru Posible), the communist is the party, that claims to be ML.
Anyway, he got jailed for going on live television abolishing the independence of powers after almost 2 years of strugles with the prosecutors and the congress.
It was shocking to see him doing such a political sudoku alive, specially when it was clear nobody was coming to help him.
Currently in a the Presidential prison with a sentence of 18 months of preemtive prison until the trial.
>He got elected and what happen afterwards?
Got elected, did some reforms in favour of teachers and workers (promoted/legalized his own teachers' union against the Maoist teachers' union). Danced the last part of Covid and managed to not get the economy in a tailspin.
>Who is president now?
Dina Boluarte, his VP, whom proceeded to consolidate power in his hands with an alliance with the right wing mayority congress (and it only costed just 70 dead protesters).
The second VP, whom was excluded due to a judicial sentence, Vladimir Cerron, leader of Free Peru is currently on the run but Peru is pretty big.
>Just get elected, do nothing and leave?
Can't do much in a minority goverment, got to a Red start with the Bellido cabinet, then mild it down with the … fuck I forgot her name to whatever the fuck was the Valer cabinet to an AMLOist vibe cabinet with Canibal. When Anibal was impeached by congress, Betsy Chavez cabinet was the last one. Didn't last untill christmas.

>Pedro fucked up by turning on his supporters and trying to dissolve the bourgeois democratic institutions immediately
He initially turned on his supporters because he had to fit in the bourgeois institutions in Peru that were created by the Fujimori dictatorship. You're just making shit up here. He didn't try to create a new constitution until it became clear that the Fujimori-created institutions would never allow him to properly govern, let alone actually make good on any of the promises he made his supporters. I honestly don't understand how you people genuinely think he should have just worked within the system of the Peruvian bourgeois system when the entire year of him trying to compromise with those elements more and more (walking back on his promises in doing so) so obviously proved that that would be impossible.

The issue is he tried to do these things without any material support. Instead of making compromises he should have been rallying his supporters to go on a general strike if their demands weren't met. Something like that.

Should have listened to Maduro instead of Allende.

That's probably the only way he would ever be able to actually make it through his term, but if he did do that he much more likely would have been impeached immediately for moral ineptitude.
Honestly if I were him I don't know what I would do, he initially tried to compromise with the rightists in the government because they were trying to impeach him for moral ineptitude and that tanked his support, and by the time he tried his impossible measure there was no popular support to act as reinforcing pressure. He would have had to have been just as forceful from day one and somehow not get immediately impeached for moral ineptitude, honestly I think considering the state of the organized left in Peru he never had any real chance to do anything.

No one here is defending the congress or the system, we are all just calling him a retard for trying to dissolve congress without any literal support or planning, what the fuck did he expect to happen? When Fujimori did it he had the army and police on his side which is why he was successful. Pedro could've actually tried to build some sort of workers movement or try to achieve things with strikes like other anons said. He simply chose the wrong time to act.

 No.1787051

>>1782564
The orgs supported him though
There were many mobilizations on his favour, but again and again and again where does power comes from? Since no military unit favoured him
Perú is a very centralized country and his support was not on the capital. When he fell instead of flying off an helicopter he did it on a car…only to get the roads blocked by opposition and the troops to arrest him in the middle of the travel.

Wow, I remember the hype back then here on leftypol about the pencil guy. I remember when some peruvian anon said: "I'm going to fight for my president!"

 No.1814643

Not like I should bump this one (or post it too on the latamhisp thread) but the VP now president Boluarte (the one that was a card carriying member of ML Pencil party) is on fire for her extravagant gifts of various rolexs and jewelry. Now it is seen that it was a gift from Ayacucho's governor
(the region where more than 2 dozens died in the aftermath of Castillo's fall)
Good to see that corruption has become something so stupid since the times of Alan Garcia & APRA.

 No.1814645

Not like something is going to happen soon. The opposition in congress has no votes to impeach her, and two tries by them to do it already failed. She has the blessing of the right and those who handle the pan.
