Probably a mix of that prescriptive statements can not be proven to be objectively right, which is deeply intertwined with the subject of morality itself, and that the moral sensibilities people have are largely the product of socialization, as much as abiding cultural customs are. Moral realism hinges on the belief that moral claims can be objectively right when prescriptive claims can not be, but advocates of moral realism (generally religious people) try to prove they are by setting God as an axiomatic precondition. Any atheistic minded person can guess why that isn‘t a convincing argument. Moral sensibilities seem to be a mere psychological faculty for a social species to maintain social cohesion, but they are programmable, hence why some cultures believe it is right for a gay person to be thrown off of a rooftop while others do not.

Ask what people mean by morality and they will give you a myriad of different answers the same way people who still believe in God do. It can be a useful tool on both sides, but the problem is that what is socially considered “moral” has a lot more to do with people in power than moralists will give credit for. The heretic moralist that goes against the moralist majority and ruling class moralists faces an uphill battle. Short term, they can use moral language to win over a few people who might not otherwise be sympathetic to them, but any lower-level egoist can do the same if they understand the moralist’s language. Also, if you really care you should read the book. It’s not that long. Read “Stirner’s Critics” after to shore up what isn’t explained too.

I agree. Morality seems to be just useful beliefs imposed on society or believed by a great many within society because it's useful to keep stability. At the end of the day, it's all made up. Many have a hard time accepting this due to its implications, but that's just how it is

Marxists understand that morality is an objective phenomenon in society, literally just the standards of social behaviour which are observed voluntarily and conscientiously. In an exploitative society, the morals of the exploiting class prevail, serving to protect their interests. It is the worst in capitalist society, where money rules everything.
In socialist societies, unity and cooperation among people led to the development of a new morality. As part of the superstructure iy msu lag behind the base in development but it catches up.
