“In my experience, Israel gets special treatment that no other country gets,” Blaha said. “And there is undue deference, in many cases, given” to Israeli officials’ side of things when the U.S. asks questions about allegations of Israeli wrongdoing against Palestinians, he added.

As a drought in Mexico drags on, angry subsistence farmers have begun taking direct action on thirsty avocado orchards and berry fields of commercial farms that are drying up streams in the mountains west of Mexico City. Rivers and even whole lakes are disappearing in the once green and lush state of Michoacan, as the drought combines with a surge in the use of water for the country’s lucrative export crops, led by avocados.

Mayor Adams Pushes Out Chairwoman of Police Oversight Board
The official, Arva Rice, has chaired the panel, the Civilian Complaint Review Board, since Mr. Adams installed her in February 2022, calling her “a champion for equity and justice.” But she has drawn the anger of police officials for criticizing delays in handing over evidence in the fatal shooting of a Bronx man in his home five years ago — and for requesting a larger budget and more power to investigate complaints against police officers.

The PFLP Condemns the Repressive Practices of the Administrations of Universities in the US
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine condemns the repressive practices of the administrations of universities in the United States, and affirms its support for the struggle of the student movement in support of Palestine. ThAt a time when the genocide war against our unarmed Palestinian people in Gaza Strip continues, and the brutal zionist practices in Al-Quds and the West Bank, executed by the zionist occupation army in partnership, support, and complicity with the American administration and Western colonial countries, aligned with all the forces of evil and tyranny in the world, when the occupation army has been committing massacres and brutal crimes for over 200 days now, the likes of which human history has never witnessed before, And at a time when all lovers of peace in the world stand by the Palestinian people in their just struggle to reclaim their usurped rights, the ugly face of zionist racism clearly appears.

‘Militant’ trade union leaders and the coming Labour government
“The working class is back!” So declared Mick Lynch, RMT general secretary, in the summer of 2022, as a year-long strike wave began to rock the country. After forty years of defeats and retreats, the working class in Britain had begun to wake up and flex its muscles. And during this upheaval, a layer of more militant leaders came to the fore of the trade union movement. From Lynch himself, to Sharon Graham of Unite, to figures like Kevin Courtney in the NEU: these left union leaders spoke boldly and defiantly about standing up to the Tories and the bosses, and fighting for workers. The Tory government looked like it was on the ropes, especially when faced with mammoth coordinated days of action by public sector unions such as the NEU and PCS. In the end, however, Sunak and co. were able to successfully splinter the movement, with many union leaderships encouraging members to accept somewhat desultory pay deals. Now, having failed their members on the industrial front, union leaders are turning to the political plane, and are placing their hopes in a coming Starmer Labour government. But we must be clear: there is no solution for workers down this path.

A. W. Zurbrugg: Emma Goldman and Reginald Reynolds on Palestine: Some notes on anti-Semitism and Zionism before World War Two
However shocking are recent events in and around Gaza, they do not arise like lightning on a clear day and out of blue skies and may be seen in historical context. This text goes a little way towards sketching anarchist perspectives on this historical and political conflict. In the 1930s, and at other times, Anarchists were sympathetic to the concerns of diverse interests and communities in Palestine and commented on developments. Exchanges between Emma Goldman and Reginald Reynolds published in Spain and the World and other texts highlight actual and potential conflicts between long-term residents and new settlers.
