4chan porn threads contain some of the most high quality discussion on 4chan until a guy who is obsessed with trans people and black cocks comes in. the dynamic is similar on leftypol except with anti-porn retards

Literally every time I've bothered to go to /gif/ and set up all the necessary filters, there's nothing interesting. They have such bland tastes.

That said: yeah, we need more non-news addict threads and better flaming prevention measures. I've managed to crank a few ideas out, but they're all /tech/ threads. I am getting better at taking notes since tinkering with some relevant KDE apps tho.

you don't, you have to understand that this is a niche board. if you want /leftypol/ to be bigger it's a terrible idea to make shit copies of 4chan boards because they'll have no real userbase behind them. you've got to find communities that don't have their needs met by 4chan and then invite them in.
example: 4chan already has a /jp/ board. a /leftypol/ /jp/ board would be utterly dead because anyone who wants to discuss those topics will go to 4chan because it's faster and you're more likely to get a reply. on the other hand, 4chan is useless for discussing leftist politics, thus /leftypol/ itself is reasonably fast.

every site that tries to do "4chan, but uhhh i run it" withers and dies quickly. (7chan covers different ground, 8chan let people create their own boards, both allowed discussion of topics banned on 4chan *at the exact moment the ban came into force* - it's useles to make an invasions board now!)

i use twitter to find porn. i might join cohost since it's becoming a big porn hub as well but idk. i dont like microblogging platforms in general since they're mostly just "angry discussion"

I had been looking for a leftist version of 4chan for a while and I had simply never heard of this place. Aside from the twitter account there's basically no mention of it anywhere. This place could easily get 10x the amount of users if it was advertised more. Although I don't know if that's really something that would be good. Feel like the site is slower right now but also pretty quality, most threads are fairly interesting. If you go on regular /pol/ it's all weird cuck porn and random nonsense, I don't want this site to end up like that.

i wouldn't say the mods themselves are amazing (i wouldn't know, i don't care to learn names, this isn't phpbb) but the system of moderation as a whole works better than any other imageboard i'm aware of. the best feature is the moderation feedback thread and general openness of the administration to argument, rather than the mods themselves being exceptional people. it allows for a good balance of quickly removing bad posters with allowing good posters to make their case when (a) they're banned for being silly one time, and (b) when the site admins do something silly and there's backlash. (like when IDs were implemented years ago.)
if you wanted to be realy pretentious and attribute it to leftism rather than luck, you could even call it dialectical.
