The US dangles Yemen bait, but Ansarallah doesn’t bite

In a special briefing on 3 April – nearly six months after Yemen launched its far-reaching naval operations to debilitate Israel’s ability to conduct war on Gaza – US Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking touted the importance of seeking diplomatic solutions in Yemen instead of the military ones his government has been loudly advocating for months.

Lenderking’s stance contrasted sharply with Washington’s announcement in December of a multinational coalition against Yemen’s Ansarallah-led forces, aimed at safeguarding international shipping in the Red Sea and effectively protecting Israeli-linked trade from Yemen’s sweeping naval blockade.

But as tensions heighten and regional allies have hesitated to join the US–UK coalition in fear of direct Yemeni retaliatory strikes, the US and its allies have quietly sought to entice Sanaa into negotiations through offers conveyed by Omani and other international mediators who maintain ties with Yemen’s de facto government in Sanaa.

Lenderking’s position may, in fact, reflect an astounding set of private US promises made via intermediaries to Ansarallah behind closed doors – pledges that essentially tick every box on the resistance movement’s wish list.

Informed Yemeni sources reveal to The Cradle that the US offered Sanaa – in exchange for its neutrality in the ongoing Gaza war – “an acknowledgment of its legitimacy.”

This would involve severely reducing the role of the Saudi-backed Presidential Council led by Rashid al-Alimi and accelerating the signing of a roadmap with Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to end the aggression against Yemen.

The sources further reveal that the Americans pledged to immediately release withheld Yemeni public sector salaries from the National Saudi Bank, lift the country’s siege entirely, reopen Sanaa Airport, ease restrictions on the port of Hodeidah, and facilitate a comprehensive prisoner exchange agreement with all involved parties.

In terms of reconstruction, the sources say:

>[Washington] pledged to repair the damages, remove foreign forces from all occupied Yemeni lands and islands, and remove Ansarallah from the State Department’s ‘terrorism list’ – as soon as they stop their attacks in support of Gaza.

Despite these tempting offers, which have been the subject of negotiations between Sanaa and Riyadh for over two years, the Yemenis remained steadfast. Ansarallah leader Abdel Malik al-Houthi’s consistent position, as reiterated in his speeches, has been to continue operations as long as Israeli aggression against Gaza persists.

From the outset, marked by Israel’s declaration of a state of war following the 7 October Al-Aqsa Flood operation, Sanaa threw its weight behind the Palestinian resistance, launching comprehensive drone and ballistic missile attacks against the southern Israeli-occupied port city of Umm al-Rashrash, known as Eilat.

In response to the Yemeni salvos and interception attempts by US warships, Washington initiated a campaign of threats against Sanaa, which in turn demanded an immediate cessation of aggression against Gaza as a precondition for halting its military operations. Their exact words to the Americans were: “We are not within the circle of those you dictate to.”

Matters only intensified as Ansarallah began deploying previously unused naval strategies – not even utilized against Yemen’s aggressors, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in nine years of battles – with al-Houthi vowing to obstruct Israeli ships in the Red Sea.

This strategy was actualized days later on 19 November, when Yemeni naval commandos stormed an Israeli-linked vessel, the Galaxy Leader, and its crew, redirecting the ship to Yemeni shores.

This daring naval action prompted the US to pursue dual strategies: the first, involving intimidation and preparation for a naval coalition to support Israel, and the second, encouraging diplomatic engagements through Arab and international mediators to halt Sanaa’s impactful naval operations.

Sanaa’s leadership not only dismissed these overtures but expanded the naval blockade to include non-Israeli vessels en route to Israeli ports and extended their theater of operations as far as the Indian Ocean – to cut off Israel’s “alternative long route” shipments.

Yemen’s firm refusal to succumb to either enticement or intimidation led the US and the UK to initiate aggressive military operations against the war-torn Persian Gulf state three months ago, aiming to neutralize the Yemeni threat and halt maritime attacks in support of Gaza under the guise of protecting maritime navigation freedom.

As a countermeasure, Sanaa escalated its military response by expanding operations to target not only US and British ships but also introducing advanced weaponry into its arsenal.

This included the sinking of the British cargo ship Rubymar, attacking other vessels, and broadening the theater of operations to the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean – a strategic move to ramp up pressure on those executing the brutal war on Gaza.

In light of the current situation, where the US has acknowledged the futility of its military strategy and is clamoring to devise a diplomatic solution, Sanaa has clearly demonstrated its relevance to any and all West Asian geopolitical calculations.

Its stunning achievements of the past six months include Sanaa’s ability to disrupt the Israeli economy by cutting off or lengthening trade routes for Israel’s essential imports. This can be seen most notably in Eilat, where the operational disruption of Israel’s southernmost port has led to significant job cuts by the port’s operating company and paralyzed shipping entirely.

Ansarallah has also thwarted retaliatory measures by the west’s most celebrated naval forces, made a mockery of their ramshackle “coalition,” and created complex challenges for US hegemonic ambitions in the Persian Gulf, both presently and in the long term.

Moreover, Yemen has showcased remarkable political and military maneuverability, demonstrating that a single resolved Arab state can provide the Palestinian resistance with a potent negotiating tool.

Importantly, through its military operations in the region’s waterways, Sanaa has solidified its position within the Axis of Resistance, transforming into one of the most effective forces in the Axis’ Unity of Fronts strategy. All, while drawing British and American naval assets into vulnerable – and unwinnable – positions and successfully hindering Israel’s shipping connections with the world.

According to al-Houthi’s most recent count, Yemen’s numerous military operations have launched over 520 missiles and drones to target naval assets and areas in southern Israel. Ninety vessels have been targeted to date, with 34 operations conducted only between 4–5 March using 125 ballistic and winged missiles and drones.

In contrast, the US and UK have launched nearly 500 raids since their ill-conceived naval coalition began ops, resulting in the martyrdom of nearly forty Yemenis.

Six months into the war, Yemen continues to demonstrate its strategic capabilities on land, in regional waterways, and even in the world’s oceans. Yemeni officials hint at further military “surprises” still to come, which they may deploy depending on Israeli actions in Gaza and the broader region, as well as the actions of its US enabler, which Sanaa views as the most destructive and destabilizing force for West Asia’s security and stability.

Qassam Brigades surprises military analysts
Omar Ashour, a security and military studies professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, has spoken to Al Jazeera about how the performance of Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, over the past seven months has surprised many military analysts.
Here is a summary of his main points:
> The Qassam Brigades was completely outnumbered and outgunned in all domains – sea, air and land – as well as electronic and cyberwarfare.
< It created its own environment to be able to fight by constructing multilevel underground tunnels that doubled or tripled the size of Gaza.
> The tunnel network provided two of the three elements needed for combat effectiveness: protection from artillery and air strikes and mobility because the ground lines of communication are still connected.
< Many Hamas fighters remain, and Israel has killed only one of its three top commanders.
> If Israel wants to achieve its aim of destroying Hamas, the fight will take a lot longer than the Israeli military expected, and it may not even be possible.

Demonstrators in Tel Aviv call for immediate prisoner swap deal with Hamas
There are currently large protests taking place in Tel Aviv with people calling for a prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas.
In videos posted on social media that were verified by Al Jazeera, demonstrators carried banners plastered with pictures of Israeli captives held in the Gaza Strip along with the words “Agree now” as they called on the Israeli government to work harder to come to an agreement in the long stalled negotiations.

Holocaust survivors in Israel get German payout to cope with ‘frightening war situation’: Berlin
Germany says it is providing 25 million euros ($27m) for Holocaust survivors in Israel to help them cope with the impact of Hamas’s October 7 attacks on southern Israel and the subsequent war on Gaza.
“Many Holocaust survivors were hit particularly hard by the Hamas attacks,” a German Finance Ministry spokeswoman said, pointing to the loss of homes or support systems in the form of care.
The additional funds were aimed at helping them “in this frightening war situation”, she said.

Quds Brigades claim sniping Israeli soldier near Gaza City
The armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Quds Brigades, has claimed to have killed an Israeli soldier in an area east of Gaza City.

==Israeli military attack on Nuseirat refugee camp indicative of new strategy=
We’ve had a statement from the Israeli military where they say they began a precise intelligence-based operation to eliminate “terrorist” operators and strike “terrorist” infrastructure in central Gaza.

This was undertaken by the Nahal Brigade, supported by the Israeli Air Force from the air and also by the Israeli Navy gunboats off the coast, hitting targets on the coastline of central Gaza.

As far as we understand, this is the first ground operation that the Israeli army has carried out on the Nuseirat refugee camp since the beginning of the ground offensive six months ago.

It comes just days after the large pullout from the Khan Younis area, leaving just the Nahal Brigade in that central part of Gaza.

What we were told when the Israeli military pulled out was that this brigade would basically be left there to police the north-south divide of Gaza and be able to do these targeted raids.

So, while we’re waiting for the green lights to be given to the Rafah operation, I think today’s operation is what we’re going to see more of from the Israeli military

https://www.compactmag.com/article/how-the-paraglider-left-hurts-palestine/

>Another series of those recurring, grim provocations from what we might call the “paraglider left” took place in recent weeks. In New York City, a speaker at the People’s Forum—a “movement incubator” that has received millions of dollars from the Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund—told an audience to extended applause: “When the State of Israel is finally destroyed and erased from history, that will be the single most important blow we can give to destroying capitalism.” It was a pure expression of what the 19th-century social democrat August Bebel called “the socialism of fools”: the anti-Semitic belief that Jewish wealth and power lie behind the injustices of capitalism. Days later, pro-Palestinian protesters in Gotham targeted Mount Sinai Hospital and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, accusing both of participating in genocide for having received donations from “billionaire Zionists.”

>In Oakland, meanwhile, the City Council debated a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine. During the deliberations, speaker after speaker headed to the mic to oppose an amendment that would have added language condemning Hamas’s terrorist assault on southern Israel on Oct. 7. Viral video from the chamber showed numerous speakers denying that Hamas had beheaded or raped anyone, insisting that the Israel Defense Forces were the murderers responsible, cheering the Hamas “resistance,” and equating denunciations of Hamas with white supremacy; the amendment critical of Hamas was voted down 6 to 2. A similar outbreak of atrocity denial from Palestinian solidarity protesters occurred in January at a congressional candidates’ debate in Palo Alto.

>Why focus on street radicals and campus cranks, when hundreds of thousands of Gazans are starving, and when the United Nations’ emergency-relief chief has warned that “the great majority” of the roughly 400,000 Gazans at risk of famine are now “actually in famine”? Why devote any time at all critiquing municipal-government resolutions that have zero influence over the conflict, at a time when IDF bombardments of the Gaza Strip appear to have killed more civilians after mere weeks of war than Russia has in Ukraine after almost two years? Who cares what a random film-studies prof with a blithe misreading of Frantz Fanon shouted into a bullhorn, when the World Health Organization has reported that infectious disease is soaring in Gaza as a result of the collapse of health care, water provision, and solid-waste collection?

>“The discourse” is already chock-full of condemnations of broken moral compasses. What could be added? Fine. I concur. I condemn all that, and for the record, I condemn Hamas. That’s all appalling. But get your priorities straight, comrade! Get out in the streets and mobilize for peace and justice now!

>Nevertheless, even as those of us who oppose the war pour into the streets demanding a ceasefire and, ultimately, an end to hostilities, we must disobey the injunction to only act and not think. A deeper consideration of the paraglider left is needed, because it isn’t true that it amounted to a handful of fringe idiots. The phenomenon is too widespread to ignore. It keeps happening. And every time it happens, the rest of us marching for peace are tarred with the same brush. Western Hamasniks must be opposed, not just because they frequently espouse odious views about the Jewish people, but also because they undermine the struggle for Palestinian liberation and sabotage the possibility of a just peace.

>Palestine-solidarity demonstrations have filled the streets of Washington, London, Sydney, and many more cities worldwide. Millions have marched since the bombardments began. The vast majority of the protesters have been ordinary people aghast at the slaughter in Gaza that unfolds on their screens nightly. They aren’t, for the most part, celebrants of Hamas terror like the speakers in Oakland or deniers of atrocity like those in Palo Alto. Attempts to slander the protesters as such have failed; the marches are only growing.

>But what the moment demands of the left, and of all people of conscience, isn’t large mobilizations for their own sake. The mobilizations are supposed to serve a purpose: pressuring Western governments to seek a just and permanent end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

>So no matter how large the current demonstrations, every time Western Hamasniks intervene—every time they grab mics at rallies and chant anti-Semitic slogans, violently intimidate Jewish students on campus, vandalize the windows of Jewish businesses, publish open letters celebrating or winking at atrocity, deny that Hamas terrorists decapitated or raped anyone while suggesting that if they did, it was good anyway because all Israelis are “settlers”—all our efforts toward peace and justice are undermined. The paraglider left makes Palestine-solidarity protests more easily dismissed by the broader public and by the politicians the movement aims to bring onside.

>Hamas apologetics also make it harder for committed pro-Palestinian elected representatives to put forward their case to those not already persuaded. Meanwhile, progressive elected officials who are less focused on the Palestinian cause, but who still might otherwise have been open to speaking out, now recognize that doing so will associate them with Hamas apologists.

>In Europe, the Hamasniks have also strengthened the disciplinary hand of governments to censor and punish pro-Palestinian expression. Where many ordinary, apolitical people and organizations might once have thought such censorship a breach of freedom of speech, they now pull back, wondering if the movement is indeed inciting violence. We can certainly lament cowardice and double standards here. We can point out the hypocrisy of so many “anti-woke” free-speech warriors who have now predictably fallen silent in the face of mainstream censorship of the left or shamelessly embraced calls for bans on marches and the arrest of protesters. But the performative radicals certainly aren’t helping.

>For two decades or longer, elements of the Israeli right and their allies in the West have maintained that to support Palestinian rights was to endorse the slaughter of Jews—and now a not insignificant number of people on the left have handed them ample proof for their case. As Haaretz has extensively documented, Netanyahu propped up Hamas for many years to forestall any return to the peace process and to weaken the Palestinian Authority. This perverse feedback loop didn’t stop on Oct. 7. The more punishing the Israeli response, the greater the number of Hamas recruits and the less likely the broader Palestinian populace will be to accept any compromise. This makes a revival of the peace process and agreement of a just peace less likely.

>The Israeli left and Palestinian secularists are all too aware of this malign symbiosis. Abdullah, a 30-year-old Gaza resident whose two nieces have been killed by the bombing but who also fears to give his last name, lest Hamas militants summarily execute him—like they have so many others for speaking their mind—recently wrote in a Haaretz opinion piece:

< Hamas is an oppressive, ideological, religious organization that steals our freedom, enslaves us, abducts us at gunpoint, and suppresses any voice that opposes it. Hamas rejects the idea of the civilian state, which it sees as a desecration of everything holy and a violation of Shariah law. It’s a religious, totalitarian, tyrannical government that restricts freedom of expression. It’s an exact copy of the Iranian regime…. The only ones prospering from the war are the far-rightists on both sides. They are shamelessly using the war and blood for political gain.

>In the months and years leading up to Oct. 7, Israel had been roiled by the largest demonstrations the country had ever witnessed, targeting Netanyahu’s multiple corruption scandals, his attempt to hobble the Supreme Court, and the far right’s presence in his coalition. Over time, some on the Israeli left had made headway with the argument that the nation’s internal political crisis was inseparable from its treatment of the Palestinians.

>Two months before the Hamas terror attacks, some 3,000 Israeli citizens, including academics, religious leaders, and public figures, had signed a petition calling “attention to the direct link between Israel’s recent attack on the judiciary and its illegal occupation of millions of Palestinians.” The signatories declared that “the ultimate purpose of the judicial overhaul is to tighten restrictions on Gaza, deprive Palestinians of equal rights both beyond the Green Line and within it, annex more land, and ethnically cleanse all territories under Israeli rule of their Palestinian population.”

>To be sure, one can never understate the influence of the Israeli left. Progressives in the Jewish state were politically isolated even before the Hamas attacks. But to the degree that they were achieving any success, it potentially assisted the revival of the peace process by linking the question of the occupation to the mass democratic movement against Netanyahu. These actions had the potential to assist the Palestinian cause: In any peace process, the stronger the left’s position domestically in Israel—even if still very weak—the greater the chance of a more just outcome for those under occupation.

>Hamasnik performative radicalism, however, has cut off Israeli leftists at the knees domestically, isolating them even further. The lack of solidarity from the global left leaves many demoralized and deactivates them. As some 60 leftist Israeli academics and peace activists complained in an open letter: “We never, never imagined that individuals on the left, advocates of equality, freedom, justice and welfare, would reveal such extreme moral insensitivity and political recklessness.”

>Again, if the goal is a revival of the peace process and the delivery of a just and permanent settlement for both peoples, then cultivating solidarity between the global left and the Israeli left—not just with Palestine (and solidarity with the Israeli left is solidarity with Palestine)—should be an urgent priority.

>And the same goes for secular and moderate forces in Gaza and the West Bank, who are just as isolated as their counterparts across the Green Line. Palestine must not only be freed from Israeli occupation, but from the Islamist fundamentalism and human-rights abuses of Hamas, and from the corruption and authoritarianism of Fatah. There hasn’t been an election in Gaza since 2006. Hamas militants are no friends of liberal democracy and civil liberties, let alone democratic socialism or LGBT rights; they terrorize Palestinians, not just Israelis.

>Note also that 77 percent of Arab Israelis opposed the Oct. 7 attacks; most of the rest were just unsure, with minuscule numbers actually supporting them. Eighty-five percent of Arab Israelis opposed taking hostages. Thus, most moderate, non-Stalinist forces—creaking terrorist groups such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine are secular but hardly progressive—among Palestinians on both sides of the 1967 line recognize that the liberation struggle is a fight against both the occupation and Hamas.

>So when the performative radicals cheer on Hamas, they are not merely throwing the Israeli left under the bus, but progressive Palestinians along with them. The paraglider left is undermining those in the region whose democratic left politics are most like their own. Israelis aren’t going anywhere, nor should they, and neither are Palestinians. The only path is for the two groups to live together side by side in a just peace. And so the international left, to the extent that it has any influence, must be doing everything it can to strengthen the admittedly weak forces of secularism, democracy, and equality—the forces most able to press for a just peace.

>The paraglider left is finally a catastrophe for the wider progressive movement. The deeply embarrassing behavior of these ultras threatens the political credibility the left has gathered over the past two decades by opposing the Global War on Terror, skewering neoliberalism in the wake of the financial crisis, and pointing out the limitations of markets in response to climate change.

>This performative radicalism is also producing crippling schisms and departures within left-wing organizations, unions, and parties. The wisdom, experience, and institutional knowledge of veterans of the Democratic Socialists of America is being lost as older members resign in frustration. The image, unity, and organizing work of Canada’s largest public-sector union has taken a hit as a result of one of its leaders voicing support for the Oct. 7 attacks (for which he has since apologized). In France, the New Ecological and Social People's Union (Nouvelle Union populaire écologique et sociale, or NUPES), a fragile unity of social democrats, communists, greens, and the radical left—the first left-wide political alliance since the 1990s—is at risk of breaking up as a result of leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s refusal to describe the actions of Hamas as “terrorist.”

>Most damaging of all, this juvenile behavior is alienating the left as a whole from the vast majority of ordinary working people. Everything else that the left does, from advocating for Medicare for All and a Green New Deal to the recent union drives and strike renaissance in the United States, is threatened when growing numbers of “normies” think of progressives as nothing but a bunch of terror-loving (or terror-denying) anti-Semitic freaks.

>It is possible to oppose indiscriminate bombing of Gaza and to condemn Hamas, to call for an end to the occupation and for a return of the hostages, to back Israeli civil society in overthrowing Netanyahu and his far-right allies and to want an end to the Hamas dictatorship in Gaza, to support the rebuilding of democratic left forces in both Israel and Palestine, and to push for a revival of the peace process as soon as possible—all at the same time.

>Indeed, it is more than possible; it is the best hope for justice.

>t's well documented that israel has supported hamas over fatah

well documented if you mean just a bunch of news articles by journalists. okay. tariq baconi is right. he says israel prefers hamas because they can stall negotiations that way. so hamas reinforces israel unintentionally and israel allows hamas to exist and cant eradicate it because it benefits from the stalemate. so you get the pacification of hamas and resistance. but the stuff about israel giving money to hamas has never been proven. baconi talks about it in his book.

so maybe your right about these two things reinforcing each other but only when it comes to hamas. you said islamism and nazism/zionism are a case of fascism begets fascism. but doesnt make sense if you see islamism as more than just hamas and 90% of islamists are conservative libs and socdems not fascists.

Netanyahu leading 'Israel' to ultimate defeat: Israeli media

Israeli media reported the "resounding" failure of the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu since October 7, in terms of its announced objective of eliminating Hamas and retrieving its captives from Gaza.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that even the assassination of the sons and grandchildren of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' Political Bureau, on April 10 in al-Shati refugee camp, will not change the overall picture, emphasizing that more six than months have passed since October 7 and "Israel's" failure is only amplifying.

The Israeli website added that this time, it is not possible to pin this on the IOF or the Shin Bet, considering that military achievements on the ground cannot be translated into strategic political achievements, which is deemed an essential point due to political considerations originally aimed at preserving the "integrity of the Israeli government" more than the "state of Israel."

It added that the Israeli ground invasion of Gaza did not accomplish anything other than the mass destruction of the Strip, and, from this latter point, the perpetual and systematic failure of the Israeli government starts.

Hamas is still present in every area the Israeli occupation forces withdraw from, and they are even "supervising aid distribution processes, ensuring prices stay the same, and pursuing all suspected traitors accused of collaborating with "Israel", and, in some cases, even executing them, Yedioth Ahronoth said.

The Israeli website said that the primary goal of overthrowing Hamas was not achieved in the first place as the Netanyahu-led Israeli government has refused to discuss any realistic alternative to administer Gaza triggered by fear of Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.

It added that part of this failure is not reaching a captives' exchange deal, highlighting that "maybe it was possible to reach this deal sooner, but Hamas is adamant about refusing to make concessions, which can also be partially blamed on the political-diplomatic failure of the Israeli government.

Netanyahu has succeeded in bickering with the American administration, triggering a strategic crisis with the occupation's biggest ally, Yedioth Ahronoth said, stressing that Hamas is well aware of the fact that continuing the war without reaching any agreement will only lead to more conflict between Washington and "Israel", claiming that this is why Hamas is not only not in a rush to reach a deal but it is also further letting "Israel" writhe in front of the American administration.

Even among American Jews and friends of "Israel", the occupation has failed, which is also why Netanyahu should immediately resign and leave a window open for restoring "Israel's" standing with the US, especially among Jews, the Israeli website said.

It emphasized that even among Jews who support "Israel", there is a growing understanding that Netanyahu is leading "Israel" to absolute defeat and not victory, and this defeat will ultimately lead to imposing a ceasefire on "Israel" without overthrowing Hamas and without releasing the captives, allowing Hamas to win, it added.

'Israel' outraged at Ireland over plan to recognize Palestinian state

The Israeli Foreign Ministry denounced today Ireland's new Prime Minister Simon Harris for a number of issues, including not mentioning the Israeli captives during a speech to the Irish parliament.

In a statement, the Ministry said that Harris, who was sworn in on April 9, forgot to "mention the 133 Israeli hostages who have been rotting in Hamas tunnels for the past six months."

It expressed fury at Ireland for being anti-genocide and said that it was also "planning to award additional prizes to terrorism" by backing South Africa, which it described as "the legal arm of the Hamas terrorist organization."

It also went ballistic over "the possible recognition of a Palestinian state in the future."

In further attempts to play the victim card, the occupation's Ministry added, "After the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust… there are those in Ireland who persist on being on the wrong side of history."

Ireland officially appointed Simon Harris as the country's new Prime Minister on April 9 following the sudden resignation of former Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.

Harris was voted in an uncontested election by the center-right Fine Gael party, a third of the three-party governing coalition. He said in a press conference with his party members that he intends to revitalize the party itself and several core sectors such as farming, business, and law and order.

Addressing the public, he opted to directly condemn Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's genocide in Gaza, saying Ireland is "repulsed" by his actions, and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Over 100 female soldiers refuse conscription with IOF: Israeli media

Israeli TV7 revealed that tens of female Israeli soldiers refused to join the Israeli occupation forces for observation training with the "border control observation unit" at the military base near the border between Gaza and the '48 occupied territories.

In further detail, the news channel reported that out of 346 soldiers, almost half initially refused to be taken to the training base. The Israeli military claimed earlier on Thursday that the number stood at 116 conscripts, totaling around 30% of all drafted female soldiers.

Consequently, the IOF will be transporting them to the detention facility in the "Tel Hashomer" base or assigning them to different positions and tasks.

This marks the third round of drafting since October 7, which sees extensive numbers of refusals to serve, according to TV7.

The unit's soldiers monitor surveillance cameras along the border between Gaza and the '48 occupied territories and send forces to locations of potential incidents taking place.

The unit has multiple command centers in different military sites along the border, and the vast majority of those serving in the unit are female soldiers.

Ynet reported earlier this year that Israeli women were evading conscription under claims of health and psychological problems or conditions.

Interestingly, Ynet said several of the female conscripts who refused service were taken into "custody or incarcerated."

One of the detained female soldiers described the ongoing events as "shame and disgrace." The soldier in question attempted to exempt herself from service by applying paperwork claiming that she suffers from several mental illnesses, including "anxiety" and "attention disorder".

The conscript told her family, "Since October 7, I have not been able to function at all. Unfortunately, the army has not bothered to look at my documents for the past month and currently, they are not listening to me at all and are not willing to let me meet a military officer and are simply throwing me in jail."

Israeli military authorities claim that such incidents fall under "routine refusal percentages," with a staggering 20% of female "Border Control" soldiers refusing to be transferred to observation outposts.

However, the Israeli news website said the IOF now consider the need for female observers a "critical emergency". The Israeli military command has decided for the "first time" that the position would be staffed by members of the Israeli military's reserve force and would not be constricted to regular staff.

What are Hamas’ reservations on the mediators' ceasefire proposal?

Exclusive sources within the Palestinian Resistance revealed to Al Mayadeen on April 10 detailed points of the mediators' proposal presented to the Hamas Movement, clarifying the movement's position on it as well.

Hamas objected to the issue of the gradual return of the displaced, as the first phase entails the gradual return of displaced civilians to the northern Gaza Strip, with no specified numbers mentioned, while acknowledging that the previous proposal entailed the return of 2,000 displaced individuals per day.

The proposal also suggests that Israeli forces relocate themselves from "densely populated areas" to locations designated by "Israel" on a map. But Hamas rejected this proposal, deeming the term "outside densely populated areas" as vague, which would grant "Israel" the authority to control these areas and establish a "buffer zone".

Hamas rejected the part stipulating "Israel's" approval of opening al-Rashid and Salah al-Din Streets, with Israeli forces stationed 500 meters away from them, and instead demanded a withdrawal to Salah al-Din Street and a withdrawal from al-Rashid Street. They proposed that Israeli forces be stationed at the "Netzarim" junction as part of the first stage. However, they emphasized that at the end of this stage, all forces must withdraw outside the border.

Regarding the Israeli captives, according to the sources, the first issue is that "Israel" demanded the release of 40 captives. But if there are not enough children, women, and elderly individuals among them, then it insists on the release of male captives to reach the demanded number of captives; i.e. 40. Hamas rejected this condition.

The second is that the proposal includes the right of “Israel” to deport whoever it wishes from among life-sentenced prisoners, which Hamas also rejected.

The sources revealed to Al Mayadeen that the agreement between the two sides includes "the release of all Israeli captives and a return to sustainable calm." However, Hamas considered the term "sustainable calm" to be unclear.

They also emphasized that the second stage did not include any information regarding a ceasefire or a complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces and did not specify the number of Palestinian detainees to be released.

The French FREMM frigate "Alsace" has abandoned the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, according to French sources.
The commander of the ship stated that the Yemeni Armed Forces "do not hesitate to use drones and ballistic missiles in a very surprising and striking manner."
He added, "It has been a long time since we dealt with this level of weapons and violence. The Houthis are perfecting their technique. The more they fire, the more accurate they become."
The Commander told Le Figaro: "All combat equipment was used on board the frigate, from the Aster missile to machine guns," noting that the cost of each Aster is $2 million.
FREMM is the one of a number of European military ships that have recently withdraw from the area, following the withdrawal of the HDMS Danish Esbern Snare this week and the British destroyer HMS Richmond before it.

Earlier today, the “innovation” department of tech giant Samsung (Samsung Next) announced that it was ceasing all operations in the zionist entity. This is the latest in a slew of hits to the occupation’s economy, which prior to October 7 thrived on a burgeoning technology sector.
In addition to slowdowns at the ports of “Eilat” and occupied Asdod, the continuous withdrawal of foreign enterprise and investment from the zionist entity signifies that time is not on the enemy’s side. This is without a doubt the achievement of the armed resistance, which has made it clear that there can be no peace for those who benefit from the theft of Palestinian land or the genocide of its people.

Why have imperialists historically suppressed all the progressive opposition they faced while promoting reactionary tendencies of the oppressed people through direct and indirect means? It has happened most recently and notably in Afghanistan and Iraq. Who backed the religious fundamentalists against socialists there? Palestine is no exception. We have enough evidence that proves Israel was and is supportive of the reactionary forces in the region, including those ostensibly against it.
It is because the bourgeoisie knows how futile the reactionary struggle for emancipation is. As long as it is devoid of class consciousness, then it is utterly impotent. We should not fall into this imperialist trap, by putting our weight behind reactionaries, we diminish the need for a progressive revolutionary movement that is able to correctly understand its material conditions through a materialist lens and guide the proletarian towards real liberation.

<National and Colonial Questions For The Second Congress Of The Communist International

>With regard to the more backward states and nations, in which feudal or patriarchal and patriarchal-peasant relations predominate, it is particularly important to bear in mind:

>first, that all Communist parties must assist the bourgeois-democratic liberation movement in these countries, and that the duty of rendering the most active assistance rests primarily with the workers of the country the backward nation is colonially or financially dependent on;

>second, the need for a struggle against the clergy and other influential reactionary and medieval elements in backward countries;

>third, the need to combat Pan-Islamism and similar trends, which strive to combine the liberation movement against European and American imperialism with an attempt to strengthen the positions of the khans, landowners, mullahs, etc

>fourth, the need, in backward countries, to give special support to the peasant movement against the landowners, against landed proprietorship, and against all manifestations or survivals of feudalism, and to strive to lend the peasant movement the most revolutionary character by establishing the closest possible alliance between the West European communist proletariat and the revolutionary peasant movement in the East, in the colonies, and in the backward countries generally. It is particularly necessary to exert every effort to apply the basic principles of the Soviet system in countries where pre-capitalist relations predominate—by setting up “working people’s Soviets”, etc.;

>fifth, the need for a determined struggle against attempts to give a communist colouring to bourgeois-democratic liberation trends in the backward countries; the Communist International should support bourgeois-democratic national movements in colonial and backward countries only on condition that, in these countries, the elements of future proletarian parties, which will be communist not only in name, are brought together and trained to understand their special tasks, i.e., those of the struggle against the bourgeois-democratic movements within their own nations. The Communist International must enter into a temporary alliance with bourgeois democracy in the colonial and backward countries, but should not merge with it, and should under all circumstances uphold the independence of the proletarian movement even if it is in its most embryonic form;

>sixth, the need constantly to explain and expose among the broadest working masses of all countries, and particularly of the backward countries, the deception systematically practised by the imperialist powers, which, under the guise of politically independent states, set up states that are wholly dependent upon them economically, financially and militarily. Under present-day international conditions there is no salvation for dependent and weak nations except in a union of Soviet republics.

>The age-old oppression of colonial and weak nationalities by the imperialist powers has not only filled the working masses of the oppressed countries with animosity towards the oppressor nations, but has also aroused distrust in these nations in general, even in their proletariat. The despicable betrayal of socialism by the majority of the official leaders of this proletariat in 1914-19, when “defence of country” was used as a social-chauvinist cloak to conceal the defence of the “right” of their “own” bourgeoisie to oppress colonies and fleece financially dependent countries, was certain to enhance this perfectly legitimate distrust. On the other hand, the more backward the country, the stronger is the hold of small-scale agricultural production, patriarchalism and isolation, which inevitably lend particular strength and tenacity to the deepest of petty-bourgeois prejudices, i.e., to national egoism and national narrow-mindedness. These prejudices are bound to die out very slowly, for they can disappear only after imperialism and capitalism have disappeared in the advanced countries, and after the entire foundation of the backward countries’ economic life has radically changed. It is therefore the duty of the class-conscious communist proletariat of all countries to regard with particular caution and attention the survivals of national sentiments in the countries and among nationalities which have been oppressed the longest; it is equally necessary to make certain concessions with a view to more rapidly overcoming this distrust and these prejudices. Complete victory over capitalism cannot be won unless the proletariat and, following it, the mass of working people in all countries and nations throughout the world voluntarily strive for alliance and unity.

The full scene awaits the Iranian response
With the beginning of the second half of the year of the Israeli war of annihilation against the Palestinian people, a strategic scene emerges above the rubble and martyrs on the one hand, and above an Israeli defeat that seems deeper than the world acknowledges, until this moment.

The madness of the occupation has gone beyond cold-blooded and senseless killing, reaching the point of exceeding all appeals to the world, its organizations, states, peoples, religious and charitable symbols…and insisting on continuous public killing, and more than that, it has reached the point of bombing the embassy of a sovereign state on the territory of another sovereign state, and the residence of the ambassador, and killing Consultants work within an official framework legally protected by international agreements and treaties that are part of public international law. Despite widespread condemnation around the world of this act, which is alien to the traditions of international relations, the United States came out to say that it had heard of the matter, and was awaiting additional information from the entity itself.

Israel then directly attacked the Iranian embassy in Damascus, killing 14 people, including seven Iranians. With Iran deciding to respond inevitably to this crime, the research moved to studying the circumstances after the response.

This response, of course, requires time, wisdom, and careful calculations to ensure that it leads to complicating the enemy’s position, not to restore the initiative to him, and to help him survive the historical impasse in which he fell.

This impasse has so far led to it losing the image of itself that it has been building for 75 years, as a “state” capable of integrating into the international community and carrying out the functions of a “state.”

Now, the true face of the entity that feeds on acts of revenge, practiced by crime gangs and terrorist organizations, is emerging. While he was seeking to spread his image as an independent “state” capable of living with the peoples of the region, he now appears in his original image, which is that he was built and lives on killing these peoples, and that he has a deep-rooted racist hostility towards them that cannot be hidden in any entitlement.

Note that it has been practicing organized crime since its founding, but what is different now is that it is practicing it randomly, and almost without a coherent and organized cover at the level of public relations and propaganda. The entity has suffered a devastating defeat at this level, and in the future remaining to it, it will suffer greatly in its effort to restore the image that the United States, most of the Western world, and the global media cartels that are clearly controlled by these countries and some of their global companies are helping it to spread.

This war, and the ongoing crimes of the occupation, revealed the reality of the global media, with some bright spots that emerged from individuals in this world, not from institutions. While alternative media platforms formed a suitable space for supporters of the Palestinian cause and opponents of crimes against humanity wherever they are, in order to express their honorable positions and support the right that was not clear in an international issue as it is today specifically in the Palestinian situation.

As for the response, the passage of time increases the pressure on the entity, expands the area of uncertainty experienced by the extremist government of Benjamin Netanyahu, and increases the internal existential anxiety of a society charged with hatred and the desire to kill on racial and religious grounds, with a decline in confidence in the political leadership there to restore… Deterrence, or achieving victory.

Then more time is required to ensure that this point is closed after the response, while the current round continues. Because this point in particular (represented by a momentous event such as the bombing of an embassy) has a special moral nature, meaning that it gives the winner a moral superiority that may quickly resolve the round, and perhaps the entire confrontation, in parallel with the miracle occurring in Gaza.

This is a miracle that expresses itself, and words are not enough to express its honorable and heroic aspects. It is a miracle that everything above your head is destroyed, and then you rise from under the rubble to launch a missile or engage in a clash, or even to set up an elaborate ambush like the ambush of al-Zana, after half a year during which what amounts to four nuclear bombs capable of annihilating stone before humans fell on your head.

Then beyond that, the miracle appears to be that, after all this hell poured upon you, your people, and everyone you love, from children, the elderly, women, men, streets, homes, memories, culture, etc., you maintain your will pure, sound, with strong faith, and on your conditions as they were on the first day. There is no return of the prisoners without an agreement that leads to the release of Palestinian prisoners, a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of the occupation soldiers from the Gaza Strip, the entry of aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza, and a commitment to reconstruction. This last clause added to the previous conditions under which the resistance began the war. That is, it not only adhered to its position, but added to the condition created by the war, in a legendary image of the steadfastness of peoples and national liberation movements.

If the Iranian response is very painful and with one big blow, a point in the duel will be closed with American blessing. This is because the other option would mean widespread and mutual destruction, as a result of which those who are not from the region will leave the region.

The American administration is well aware of this, and with the revelation of the capabilities possessed by the countries and factions of the Axis of Resistance, and the major repercussions caused by its current operations, it is now able to conduct a simulation of an expanded regional war, and there is no harm in consulting artificial intelligence about the outcome of that simulation, if the natural intelligence has It has become rare in the camp of enemies of the peoples of the region.

The picture is transformed again with this work. The developments of the dry days changed the direction of events in the region. The Israeli strike may have achieved an important tactical goal for intelligence and air force officers by killing a figure (or figures) among the leaders of the axis of resistance, and it is eager to achieve a successful strike by getting rid of them. But this is not the case for political leaders who, by their own admission and appreciation, are waging an “existential war.”

These people, or whoever is thinking behind them, must realize the extent of the foolishness they have committed, and the level of recklessness they have reached in choosing the steps they are taking in a war like this. If the situation of the peoples of the region were better, and the losses were not so catastrophic, the supporter of the Palestinian cause would wish that the occupation leaders would remain at this level of lack of vision, because that would kill their colonial project in the region, and the influence and presence of their supporters in it. But wishful thinking always favors the priority of alleviating the human suffering of people, and continuing to work on the project of dismantling this disease that has been planted in the region.

The Israeli strike came above international law as a whole, and in this way it is the clearest evidence of the distorted vision. Instead of providing a feeling of strength and confidence inside Israel, it created great anxiety from two sources:

⁃ Anticipation of a painful Iranian response, without knowing its place, time, tools, nature of its goals, scope, and most important of all, its horizon, that is, whether it will be a single response after which the controls and rules of engagement will return to work, or whether it will be the beginning of a new context.

⁃ The good readers within the entity discovered that the strike was not conscious, meaning that it was not a chosen piece within a complete picture of the decision maker who took the initiative to push this stone onto the board.

The painful Iranian response, when it occurs, will serve to show Netanyahu once again as a reckless manager of force. As a bloody commander, he strikes without certainty of the outcome of the strikes, especially long-range ones. In this war, he appeared as a voracious killer without being able to portray the image of the fighter that Israel has always sought to portray its leaders in his imaginary image.

This strike led to a shift in the scene, specifically in the dynamic of time, which has become harmful to Netanyahu, after it had been serving him in recent weeks in particular. He is the one who wants to hold out until the US presidential elections next November, to achieve one of two goals during the intervening period:

⁃Destroying Hamas permanently.
Or

⁃ America's entry into the war.
But his strike in Damascus changed the entire chemistry of events, made him lose the initiative, and put him and his allies in a position of waiting for a strike about which not much is known.

There are also new indicators, which seem striking and faint at the same time, showing that the useful strengths of the resistance in Gaza are protected and far from danger. This is also what some aspects of the Al-Zana ambush revealed at the six-month mark since the beginning of the war, which, with all its details that can be published, revealed a high ability to monitor, inquire, plan, move, implement, and achieve the optimal result from military resistance action, as best as could be expected.

Then, “Israel’s” step to attack the Iranian embassy in Damascus, and the developments and expectations that followed, showed more than ever that the possibilities of a wide war will not only change the region, but that its victims will be the economies of a very large group of countries, many of which are outside the region.

The fate of the global economy now depends on the prospects of the Middle East, as an imminent danger. This is also what the operations of the Yemeni resistance forces in the Red Sea and beyond have demonstrated.

The irony that the world must read carefully is that the Yemeni Ansar Allah adheres to international law in their actions, and they only target from ships those who are related to Israeli acts of genocide. This falls in accordance with the view of justice from which international law treaties are based, under the clause of a legitimate and proportionate response to acts of genocide. War, since the Yemenis and Palestinians belong to one nation and within the framework of one Arab League, it must act as a political unit that brings together the Arabs in circumstances such as these, and not only as a regional organization.

International rules are moving now, and whoever has the power imposes the situation that suits him. This is what the Russians did in Ukraine, and this is how the Westerners deal with Russia, China, Iran and other powers, and this is also what Donald Trump did when he transcended all international logic and wanted to recognize the Israeli occupation of the occupied Syrian Arab Golan, and also Jerusalem as the capital of the entity, and other actions indicating the same direction…

All of this leads, with regard to the entity, to the fact that Netanyahu committed political suicide once again in the consulate attack. He brought himself and the entity closer to defeat that seemed certain. All signs point to it, even the newspaper “Haaretz” has begun to acknowledge what is now happening to the entity. In it, the Israeli journalist “Haim Levinson” wrote, admitting that “this cannot be said, but we were absolutely defeated… We lost, we lost the war, and this is the clear conclusion for every settler, and we have "It is a psychological and collective difficulty in recognizing this." He continues to say: "We have before us a clear and sharp reality, which we must begin to digest and draw lessons from."

The Iranian response will occur, as Netanyahu’s strike on the consulate in Damascus made him lose the initiative, and all other circumstances indicate that the moment represents a valuable opportunity for Iran to respond harshly, but at the expense of what Washington can absorb, and not be forced to engage in the conflict directly with him.

Because both sides do not appear to want an expanded war, each for its own reasons. As for Iran, it does not want to give Netanyahu a chance to save himself and the entity by expanding the area, prolonging the time of war, and inviting Washington to it, while the natural development of the scene does not serve “Israel” and America. Then because of the losses and human suffering of the Palestinians, and the necessity of their exit from the war to recover and build again.

As for the Americans, they have mountains of problems above their heads that may not allow them to emerge into the world as dominant superpowers again. America's crises, in size and proportion, are no less than Israel's existential crisis, if the existing possibilities are measured. Then, why fight about Netanyahu?

One of the features of the opportunity now is that the Israeli “army” cannot enter the expanded war alone. This is settled. In addition, it is exhausted and cannot mobilize in the long term, although in the current war it possessed two new characteristics: the ability to fight long wars and bear human losses.

Biden specifically does not want an expanded war. He will not enter it except under unavoidable necessity. His calculations are linked to the elections, Ukraine, the economic crisis and scarcity of resources, and the approaching confrontation with China…

On the other hand, Iran has the legitimate pretext for a proportional response to the crime of bombing the embassy in Damascus, due to Israel’s violation of the Vienna Treaties regulating diplomatic and consular relations and the immunities of diplomats and headquarters (1961, 1963, 1969) and the Rome Statute.

Among all these data, it appears necessary to exploit the media moment that shows a “state” bombing the embassy of a sovereign state, in a third sovereign state, in a public and direct manner. This has not been witnessed in international relations, and has only been practiced by terrorist organizations or popular revolutions.

This is regarding the opportunity, but Tehran’s calculations also take into account the threat, and the most important point in it is that this provocation does not lead it to a response that Washington cannot remain silent about, thus fulfilling Netanyahu’s dream of America entering the war against Iran, to fight for it. The response will occur, within these controls. According to data that has emerged in recent days, any American engagement with “Israel,” or an attempt to prevent a response to it, will also make America’s interests a target for response.

This may explain the American rush to restrain Netanyahu, or at least the spread of this atmosphere regarding Biden and Netanyahu’s call after the strike, and Washington’s attempt to accelerate the pace of negotiations to stop the war, and to circulate a media speech that now directly calls for stopping the war.

This path has one logical end according to current events. Stop the war without achieving the goals of the occupation, and fulfill the conditions set by the resistance. A resounding defeat for “Israel” on the one hand, with the emergence of the American ability to control world events as it had never appeared before. Weak and hesitant, and a loser in the overall outcome of the scene.

>We are an international movement.
Negative ghost rider, we are not, and have not been an international movement in a long time, the day that the USSR took up the mantle to be a vanguard was the day the seeds of destruction were sown, for once the vanguard was blown up, it took everything with it. The failure of revolutionary anti-imperialism to fully succeed has resulted in disenfranchisement, when the reactionaries instead prove that they are far more capable of dealing blows to the imperial hegemon, it is only natural that anyone from any hemisphere (North, South, East, West) will gravitate to reactionaries.

Only look at the damage that Al-Qaeda did on 11/9, the humiliation that the Taliban dealt to NATO-ISAF, and the current issues with Hamas and Yemen to see how effective reactionaries have been, meanwhile, what have revolutionaries been doing? Making sectarian noises on the internet? Nothing you do or type here will have a modicum of effect, not an ounce of support here to any one movement will equal a single bullet fired in anger.

If reactionaries are popular, it is only because revolutionaries have utterly surrendered praxis to them, hence the rapidly growing popularity of nationalist-reactionary movements throughout even Europe. The constant refrain of "nationalism bad" will do nothing more than to consistently hobble anymore

I advise you to learn how to use the language of nationalism more, it works you know, it's been working for a long time, far better than endlessly inane paeans to empty solidarity.

Not in the sense of an actual organized, "Al-Qaeda" is more of a brand that multiple groups picked up as the Global Farce on Terror went on. AQ in Iraq (which later became IS) is a different beast to AQ in Yemen and AQ in East Africa, they were all borne out of different circumstances that merely adopted the AQ brand.
>All of the factions you mentioned see most of their popularity specifically from being perceived as the resistance
That's… what I said, those groups do just enough to always portray themselves as the resistance, revolutionaries do not, in fact sometimes the opposite, as the collaboration of the Communist Party of Iraq with the occupying Americans illustrates.
>Fomenting revolution lmao[…]People are restless and there's a real chance we might see another eruption

>In fact inside indigenous insurgency Sunnis and Shias were helping each others and coordinating attacks all time, most famously in Fallujah, they also maintained anti-sectarian rhetoric.
Uhh.. its not that simple. Some groups were explicitly non-sectarian like IAI but the Mahdi Army certainly wasn't. As for Fallujah, it was a hotbed for a bunch of groups (including Al-Qaeda in Iraq) who established a joint council for coordinating the defense of the city. None of the groups on that council were Shia and Fallujah doesn't have a large Shia population anyway.

>It was the foreign Islamists let in by the US who used sectarian rhetoric, advocated for ethnic cleansing, and targeted civilians with suicide bombings.

Zarqawi moved into Iraq BEFORE the invasion and the first group to use suicide bombings was the Islamic Dawah Party's 1981 suicide bombing of the Iraqi embassy in Beirut. From there Islamic Jihad and a bunch of Palestinian groups (most famously Hamas) adopted it.

Now why would the US allow "foreign Islamists" in to fight them? See this is just another one of your dumb conspiracy theories that doesn't pass the sniff test. Your telling us the US allowed insurgents into Iraq presumably so those insurgents could attack and kill US and occupation soldiers? The US military may be retarded but they ain't suicidal and the last thing they want are lots of soldiers coming back in body bags. It was the Syrians who allowed insurgents to make free use of their border.

>>1820671
One should not make a false equivalence between Middle Eastern Islamic movements and European nationalists and the predominance of both of these groups over the left has to do with a lot more than praxis.

>>1820668
PFLP and Hamas both adopted a rejectionist line towards Oslo in the 90s so they were on the same page politically. Hamas can't field candidates in Christian areas like Bethlehem (mayor has to be a Christian) so they back PFLP candidates in those districts. The anti-Oslo people vote as a bloc. Hamas had already eaten away the PFLP's support base in Gaza and effectively replaced them. The PFLP's armed wing in Gaza appears to be basically dependent on Hamas anyway. The Popular Front is on the way out as a major Palestinian faction so they latch onto Hamas to stay relevant while Hamas uses them as leverage to exert influence in areas outside of their traditional constituencies.

>During the fighting in Fallujah at the start of the conflict, Iraqi Sunnis were sent arms by the Mahdi army

They were also sent arms and money by Al-Qaeda. Doesn't make AQ non-sectarian.

>Source: Colin Powell WMDs speech

Everybody agrees Zarqawi was already in Iraq. The Iraqi authorities were hunting for him before the invasion. The US did use it to bolster their pretext and without their invasion his group would have remained tiny but he was there before the US invasion so your whole "America let the Islamist-Zionists in" doesn't make sense. Also lets not forget Mullah Krekar too.

It really does seem you weren't around during the Iraq war. It was the US who coined the phrase "foreign fighter." It was the US that claimed the entire insurgency was made up of foreign actors and the Iraqi people just loved to be occupied. It was the US who created a massive global monitoring and surveillance system to track and control wandering armed men and lock them up in detention centers. If you think the US deliberately allowed foreign jihadists in you are actually brain dead stupid and you've never read a single government document. The US wanted the war in Iraq to be over ASAP. What do you think the mission accomplished speech was for? As far as CENTCOM and the White House were concerned, Iraq was a victory in 2003 and they were looking to hand off the country and move on to the next invasion (probably Syria or Sudan). A prolonged insurgency was not something they planned for and their whole military policy in the 2000s was to "stabilize Iraq" so they could leave and carry on with the next war. You can read the documents yourself. Just look at the national security plans, CENTCOM documents, Pentagon budgets, the Patreaus COIN manual etc.

The sectarianization of Iraq was because the US state department and local Iraqi political players (Chalabi, the Dawa party, etc) imported the "Lebanon model" which actually generated and encouraged the sectarian strife. Its not as simple as "the foreign jihadis came and created sectarianism" in fact that very line is US state dept. propaganda. "all of our problems in Iraq are caused by foreign extremists" literally Bush talking points.

>killing this many people ?
The "official numbers" are a meaningless metric and comparing it to Ukraine even more. Obviously the price paid by civilians is far far greater than some arbitrary number of certified deadly victims of a military attack. And obviously the war in Ukraine has a far greater scope and a far greater impact overall. Most of the victims of a war aren't going to leave a convenient corpse to be noted down by a nearby grudge accountant. Plus Israel is literally assassinating reporters who say the wrong things.

The argument of measuring the numbers is just propaganda nonsense, to avoid saying what is not yet politically correct to say. That Israel is shooting up their own ghetto/concentration camp, with the stated goal of ethnic cleansing. So instead public speakers dance around the issue and, at best, try to induce that conclusion without naming it. Because their salary depends on staying within that window.

>conquering land and are still losing

Losing is relative to the objective. Which is the buttressing of US hegemony. Israel is an appendage of the US and NATO. And if this conflict results in their influence over regional politics and trade diminishing, or paying too high a cost for buttressing it, it may not be a win, no matter how much the ego of Zionists is stroked or how many beach resorts the get to build on Gaza.
The resolution in which the status quo is restored and everyone kisses the ring of NATO and cucks out to some mealymouthed UN backed, US enforced, kumbaya bullshit accords is increasingly unlikely. Even if the current push to pass recognition of the Palestinian statehood is taken by "the west" and there is progressive de-escalation, the situation they would be returning to, is one where NATO has to keep compradors at gunpoint or cede space to China.

You're a delusional, polarized, Manichean thinker that still carries the fundamentalism of your so hated "fundamentalist Islamists" you decry about, and just put on a Marxist-Leninist costume on top of it.

The USSR itself supported Palestinian groups, including more "radical Islamist" factions, to ally with liberation movements and anti-imperialist governments, and they still do it to this day via Russia and China. This also was part of an overall policy where they supported various states and movements in the Middle East that had significant Islamic components, as part of its anti-imperialist and anti-colonial agenda.

Libya under Muammar Gaddafi, who promoted a socialist ideology known as the Third International Theory, supported various Islamist movements across Africa and the Middle East, seeing them as part of a broader struggle against Western imperialism.

The existence of "islamist" bootlickers like Saudi does not imply that all Islamist factions are part of some greater conspiracy of the imperialist West.
You got the same brainrot reactionaries have on top of your narcissistic cognitive elitism.

>Anon proves his lack of reading comprehension.
You literally just read "combat Pan-Islamism", and concluded "Islamism" bad.

>all Communist parties must assist the bourgeois-democratic liberation movement in these countries

Local resistance against imperialist forces, regardless of the specific religious or cultural characteristics of these movements, should be supported.

>a struggle against the clergy and other influential reactionary and medieval elements in backward countries.

With the first point above, the approach would be to focus the support on promoting progressive and revolutionary elements within these movements themselves, not work against them. If you compare the original Hamas charter with the one from 2017, that is self-evident.
Let alone how they've worked and transformed with other movements in Gaza. Reframing of many tenants in the lenses of social justice instead of "Islamism". Your dear PFLP works with them.

>the need to combat Pan-Islamism and similar trends, which strive to combine the liberation movement against European and American imperialism with an attempt to strengthen the positions of the khans, landowners, mullahs, etc.

This, by itself, is where your brainrot shows. A good explanation of this is how Salafism actually flourishes with Western support. Hell, just look at ISIS. They enforced traditional feudal and conservative religious structures over liberation and anti-imperialist goals.

Even if you see the Muslim Brotherhood as a Pan-Islamist movement, Hamas broke away from the Muslim Brotherhood officially in 2017, and redefines itself as a "Palestinian Islamic national liberation and resistance movement." This goes against the idea of Pan-Islamism. They don't seek to put all Muslim countries under one state.

The other points fit within what I explained above.

This is how MENA leftoids think. Not all of them but a lot of them. They are too lazy to even read Marx and Engels but they'll thump them like Bible worshipers. Behrooz Ghamari-Tabrizi calls these people "Enlightenment secular fundamentalists" because they have a deranged hang up on Islam of all things. All of the Middle East's problems can be explained as being caused by Islam or "traditional structures" or "feudal structures" which are again random concepts they've lifted from Western literature without bothering to understand them. Just ask one of these people to describe the class structure of Ottoman Palestine. They can't do it. Or they go looking for Soviet era orientalists and copy paste from them because they are so lazy and anti-intellectual and this is why the left is dead in the Middle East but they'll deny that all day and blame someone else.

>This, by itself, is where your brainrot shows. A good explanation of this is how Salafism actually flourishes with Western support. Hell, just look at ISIS. They enforced traditional feudal and conservative religious structures over liberation and anti-imperialist goals.

First of all, the US doesn't support Salafism. Half of the people who bitch and whine about Salafism don't even know what it is. Salafism is just a religious sect mostly made up of political quietists who think politics is sinful. There's nothing traditional about Salafism either. Its a modern largely Protestant-inspired movement that's apolitical. The US establishment made a big deal out of Salafism because they're stuck in a Cold War mindset where they have to have some grand -ism to blame everything on. They also needed a short hand for "bad Islam" and since many AQ members are Salafis they put two and two together and declared Salafism as the enemy. The vast majority of Salafis are peaceful (if really annoying) people who've done nothing to anybody. Salafism isn't some evil engine of imperialism and it isn't a pipeline to jihadism either just a sect that gets unfairly picked on by Westerns on both sides of the political spectrum neither of whom understand what it is.

Confrontations have intensified between the residents of the town of Al-Mughayyir near #Ramallah and settler mobs protected by the IOF who are invading the town and opening fire on homes, burning them, and injuring a number of Palestinians with live bullets.
Mosques are calling for surrounding towns to come and repel the attacks.

A large number of Palestinians have been injured by IOF and settlers' bullets as they continue to invade of the town of Al-Mughayyir, near Ramallah.
Three zionist soldiers and a number of settlers have been injured during the confrontations.
One Palestinian has ascended to martyrdom after being shot by settlers invading a home, according to local sources, and six others have been injured.
Glory to the martyrs.

Out of fears of an imminent response from Iran, the American embassy warned its citizens in occupied Palestine last night to not leave the central region, Al-Quds, or Bir Al-Sabi', and to avoid travelling to the north or Haifa. The US military deployed a ship off the coast of Palestine to confront ballistic missiles and advanced drones this morning.
Also this morning, British and Indian foreign ministries called on their citizens to leave occupied Palestine immediately.
Meanwhile, the IOF has raised its readiness among its ranks, and Netanyahu held a special security meeting this morning to prepare for an attack, followed by a meeting with the heads of government ministries. Zionist and western sources estimate a response within 48 hours.

Settlers continue their attack on the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, burning a number of cars and homes, and attempting to enter them. The attack has been ongoing for over 4 hours, protected by IOF soldiers.
11 Red Crescent ambulances are dealing with at least 10 injuries from settlers' bullets, including serious ones. When the ambulances approach, settlers are opening fire on them, according to the Red Crescent.
Some settlers have moved to attack the village of Turmusaya, north of Ramallah at this moment as well.

German forces stormed the room that the "Palestine Conference" was being held in Berlin, Germany, cutting off the electricity and video feed as Nakba survivor and researcher Salman Abu Sitta was speaking via video.
Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta, a firsthand witness to genocide who was working in Gaza hospitals during the war and set to speak at the conference, was detained at the Berlin airport and forcibly prevented from entering the country.
It is worth noting that Germany is currently on trial at at the International Court of Justice for its military and financial support for the zionist entity's genocide, and it is one of the most repressive countries for Arab and Palestinian activism, long before October 7th.

Most of the time when America shows weakness people refuse to capitalize on it, but as soon as America senses it they go for the jugular. Iran needs to stop fucking about and go for the jugular while there's no real ability for the US to respond, because if the US manages to tough it out and get back into a stronger position, they'll be immediately back to their old bullshit.
This is only really acceptable if Iran knows with certainty that Israel will keep on escalating and this is all an attempt to safely cleave Israel and the US apart before really going in. I'm not saying this isn't the case but obviously all I truly know is what I am watching happen with my own eyes.

I largely agree with what you're saying about salafists being an american boogieman/scapegoat, but this specific bit just isn't true.

Salafiyya is literally the definition of conservatism. The movement is literally just muslim "retvrn" chvds. The whole premise is "we need to go back to practising Islam the way the prophet did, and purge the religion of modern innovations". The reason they (claim) not to participate in politics is because they don't recognize the legitimacy of anything that isn't like the original caliphates.

I agree that they're not some grand malign influence, but salafiyya is absolutely a political stance which, ironically, would be more of a problem if we had a liberal democracy. I had a proudly salafi Quran teacher once: he was a fucking crank.

Literally the best thing Iran can do right now is just continue to let Israel writhe like a worm in the daylight. Israel is hoping to goad Iran into doing something retarded, just like they got goaded by the Qassamis.

Israel's greatest asset is its 'international legitimacy', and they're rapidly annihilating every shred of it. The smart zionists (i.e. liberals) are aware of the catastrophic 'legitimacy breakdown' currently underway, and they're terrified of it.

Iran would be playing into Israel's hands if it retaliated. The motive behind Israel's embassy strike is painfully obvious. Iran only has to sit back and watch. There's no need to give the world a big spectacle - Israel's doing that just fine, and its viability as a state is rapidly diminishing concurrent with its 'international legitimacy'

We lost the war, October 7 will affect us for years: Israeli media

Israeli media reported that "Israel" fell short of achieving its objectives during the war, underscoring a resounding defeat.

Haaretz's political affairs correspondent, Chaim Levinson, wrote in an article, "We have lost the war. This is the clear conclusion for every Israeli," adding that "the difficulty of admitting this sums up the entire private and public psychology of Israel."

He continued, "We have before us a clear, sharp, and demanding reality, and we must begin to comprehend it, understand it, and draw conclusions from it for the future. But it is not nice to say that we lost, so we are lying to ourselves."

Levinson pointed out that after six months, the settlers had become "prisoners of the worst leadership in the history of Israel."

"It is not certain that we will be able to return to the northern border, safely," he said, stressing that "Hezbollah has changed the equation in its favor."

He also said that there is now a high probability that over the years, any flight on the northern border will be "targeted," and that not all captives are guaranteed to return. "Any Iranian threat is bound to shake us, our international standing is damaged, and our leadership's weakness has been exposed."

"We've managed to uphold an illusion of strength for years, boasting intelligent individuals and a formidable military. However, we're merely a small Jewish village with an air force."

The Israeli correspondent highlighted "The challenge in acknowledging our defeat stems from the reverence for the military, where criticism is taboo. It's only on October 7th that we can, albeit briefly, express disappointment."

He contended that "Rafah is just the latest illusion being touted by those claiming victory,…by the time they reach Rafah, the significance of the event will have faded away."

Levinson emphasized that the reality is that the objectives of the war will not be met and Hamas will not be "eradicated", adding that "Prisoners will not be returned through military coercion and security will not be restored."

He continued, saying: "The louder the trumpets shout: We win, the more we lose. They lie. We must get used to it. Life was safer before October 7. The blow will be felt for many years to come," stressing that "international isolation will not disappear," adding that "The dead won't come back and neither will many of the prisoners."

Irish, Spanish PMs to meet; Palestine nation state plan on the table

The new Irish Taoiseach, Simon Harris, will meet the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, to discuss their joint plan to recognize Palestine as a nation state and their plans to force the European Union (RU) to assess "Israel's" human rights obligations.

The Israeli government's violation of human rights should cost the occupation its association agreement with the EU, which is an all-encompassing trade agreement between the bloc and the Israeli regime. Harris and Sanchez will look to enforce a clause that obliges the EU to suspend the agreement with entities that violate human rights law, which "Israel" has been blatantly doing since it launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Sanchez will arrive in Dublin on Friday, marking the first visit of a foreign Prime Minister to Harris since he took over the Irish government this week.

Spain and Ireland have worked toward pro-Palestine issues since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, focussing on the rights of the Palestinian people to an independent state and criticizing Israeli violation of international law.

On Thursday in Brussels, Harris said he made clear Ireland's position on the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in a meeting with the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen. Moreover, Harris reiterated a formal request, made by Dublin and Madrid earlier, to review the EU association agreement with "Israel".

"I believe the European Union must use all of the levers at its disposal [to protect the Palestinian people]," Harris said.

Harris also said that Sanchez was a welcome guest to Dublin, as "he'll be the first head of government that" Harris "will welcome to government buildings." He explained that he looks forward to having the opportunity to discuss with Sanchez "the issue of the recognition of the state of Palestine and broader matters."

>And then you remember that moving carriers to middle east didn't stop the Houthis (the expenditure of ordinance mentioned), so it sure as shit wouldn't work against Iran.
The U.S. has other bases and can fly bombers from the continental U.S. and back. There's even a base for heavy bombers in the Indian Ocean. A carrier group is a lot of extra spank but it's not like the U.S. can't bomb the bejesus out of Iran. That said, I don't think the U.S. could stop a committed Iranian assault on shipping in the Persian Gulf. Can't beat the Houthis either.

Thing here too is that large navies have pretty much always struggled to manage attacks against shipping from small-scale naval forces, like you go back to the 18th and 19th century and the Europeans (and later Americans) had a profound degree of naval superiority over the Barbary states but still struggled to prevent attacks on commercial vessels. The Ukrainians have either damaged or destroyed one-third of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the past two years without having a navy of their own, using similar tactics to the Houthis (missiles, drones) including sinking a cruiser. This isn't to say the Russian navy has been a non-factor though, since its presence has forced Ukraine to redistribute resources away from other areas – the Ukrainians early in the war also had to keep troops in Odessa out of fear the Russians would launch an amphibious attack. Russia has also struck Ukrainian merchant ships and the overall threat posed by that fleet hinders Ukrainian trade (to a significantly greater degree than what the Houthis can do).

Overall, I don't think the U.S. and co. can do much to stop the Houthis, but Houthi attacks have been more of a sideshow They have managed to reduce shipping through the Red Sea by more than half, but the cost advantages of moving things by sea compared to air or land is so extreme that it generally doesn't matter if ships "take the long way around" beneath Africa anyways, so it doesn't really effect global maritime trade as a whole. The biggest loser is really Egypt which loses out on Suez transit fees.

Iran can pose a threat to U.S. warships with a large numbers of nimble, inexpensive speedboats. But those are vulnerable to everything else. The U.S. destroyed Houthi speedboats recently using Seahawk helicopters that can carry machine guns or small rockets. Those dinky little carriers can also launch the helicopters. Iran also waged a "tanker war" with Iraq in the 1980s which drew in the U.S. which then destroyed the Iranian navy at the time. In a real conflict, there's no comparison – the Iranian navy would be destroyed. I'll bet you on that. Iran knows this. But can the U.S. really stop Iran if it was committed to disrupting shipping in the Persian Gulf? The answer is no. Iran could keep producing missiles and drones and launching them at ships and it could go on for years.

wdhmbt, if a ship takes twice as long to travel then it has halved the amount it moves, you don't just find some new ships to make up for it down the back of the couch
btw if it drops without the Suez being opened this doesn't mean the situation is improving it's basically the same as German energy prices dropping (because the businesses that were buying it don't exist anymore)

This goes into it. A lot of the founders of Israel were secular Zionists but they looked at the Bible as more as a history of the Jewish people in ancient times – told in a mythological way – which provided a convenient national mythos. Like, this is the traditional homeland of the Jewish people, and it's the only homeland they've ever had, so let's fight for it. That was the attitude. The superstitious stuff essentially didn't matter. A kind of critical Biblical history where they'd go out and look at archaeological sites and see what matched up and what didn't also became a fascination with these people.

That's how nationalism works. If dig around in the past and start pulling bookshelves off the shelf and mine them for historical myths to serve present-day purposes, or if not, invent one.

Also a big part of Labor Zionism that gets left out was the idea that Jews establishing a regime there and then living / working / fighting and dying by their own efforts. I think that was attractive at the time (especially coming out of the Holocaust) but there were some Jewish intellectuals who, if not anti-Zionist, were deeply skeptical of this project (I think Albert Einstein was one), because it's like okay, you guys are going to create a Jewish Sparta in the Middle East and basically be at constant war.

 No.1822407

I’m not going to list every report, but there are major settler/IOF attacks across the West Bank right now. The settler who was missing yesterday was found dead. Dozens of Palestinians have been injured, a number are dead, and a few settlers have been wounded. Vehicles and houses are being burned and destroyed. Resistance groups across the West Bank are currently calling for a general mobilization and uprising.

RNN has issued the following, which some of you may find interesting:
CALL TO ACTION: THE GLOBAL ECONOMY IS COMPLICIT IN GENOCIDE - JOIN THE APRIL 15TH ACTIONS!
Cities around the world are mobilizing this Monday to put a halt to it in a coordinated economic blockade for Palestine. Activists are mobilizing at economic choke points to take influential and impactful actions, following frustrations with largely symbolic ones.
The objective is to cause the most economic impact possible, such as by shutting down ports, targeting weapons suppliers such as Elbit, and others.
RNN invites you to join the call in your city, or to create an action for this day if one doesn't exist. Each action will be independently planned and executed. Do not coordinate with the police, and do not attack each other's actions publicly except through principled critiques among comrades.
You may read more at A15Action.com and instagram.com/a15actions, including the Mutual Solidarity Agreement to protect each other from attacks, legal resources, graphic templates, and more, available in several languages.
It is time for collective risk. It is time to take real action.

In the past few hours, colonial zionist authorities have taken a number of measures in anticipation of an Iranian response to the Damascus embassy bombing in the coming hours.
All schools in the zionist entity are closed tomorrow, and all civil and security institutions across occupied Palestine are on the highest alert. The zionist foreign minister has abruptly canceled a planned visit to Austria as all government officials have been ordered not to leave the country.
Finally, “Ben Gurion” airport in “Tel Aviv” is expected to have a record number of travelers tomorrow as over 55,000 are expected to pass through it on their way out of the country.

A new batch of drones has reportedly been launched from Iran towards occupied Palestine, as well as ballistic missiles.
Zionist sources report that cruise missiles may have also been launched from Iran, as well as drones from Yemen.
Iraq has announced the closure of its airspace, while the zionist entity's airspace is closed from midnight until 7 AM.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps:
In response to the zionist regime's crime in attacking the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, the Aerospace Force of the Guards targeted specific locations in the territories of the zionist regime with dozens of drones and missiles.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announces operation "His Promise is Truthful":
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
"Indeed, we will take vengeance on the criminals."
In the name of Allah
The noble and martyr-loving Islamic people of Iran, in response to the numerous crimes of the evil zionist regime, including the attack on the consular section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus and the martyrdom of military leaders and Iranian advisers, the brave men of the Aerospace Force, with the support of other forces, have carried out a large-scale military operation against targets inside the occupied territories, launching dozens of missiles and drones during the operation ""His Promise is Truthful" under the sacred symbol "O Messenger of Allah (PBUH)".
Details of this operation, which was conducted with the approval of the Supreme National Security Council and under the supervision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, supported by the zealous men of the Islamic Republic of Iran and with the assistance of the Ministry of Defense and the support of the armed forces, will soon draw the attention of the heroic Iranian people and the free peoples of the world.
"And victory is only from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise."

Informed sources told the Iranian Nour News agency that as the Iranian drones approach the occupied Palestine, the main part of the complex operation will begin, and this will be the essential part of the retaliatory operation against the ionist entity.

Apologies for not being here to post the news as early as usual today, I had some (unfortunately timed) things to do.

Alongside Jordan; Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, and the zionist entity have closed their airspaces for commercial planes as a result of GPS jamming and the scale of the IRGC's operation. Jordan and Egypt have announced that their militaries will attempt to intercept any Iranian missiles or drones flying above their respective countries.

Iranian Minister of Defense:
Any country that opens its airspace or territory to "israel" to attack Iran will receive our decisive response.

17:00: a gathering of "israeli" enemy soldiers in the Adadhar forest was targeted with missile weapons, and it was directly hit.
17:50: a gathering of "israeli" enemy soldiers in the vicinity of the "Branit" Barracks was targeted with missile weapons and was directly hit.
17:50: a building used by "israeli" enemy soldiers in the “Even Menachem” settlement was targeted with appropriate weapons and it was directly hit, as a response to the enemy’s attacks on the steadfast southern villages and civilian homes.
18:20: the spy equipment at the "Raheb" [IOF] site was targeted with appropriate weapons and was directly hit.
18:40: a building used by "israeli" enemy soldiers in the "Shtula" settlement was targeted with appropriate weapons and it was directly hit, as a response to the enemy’s attacks on the steadfast southern villages and civilian homes.
18:50: an air attack was launched with assault drones on the Iron Dome platforms at the newly created air defense site in “Tel Naama”, which was established by the "israeli" enemy as an alternative to the site previously targeted by the resistance in “Kfar Blum”, and the drones hit their objectives precisely.
