They are good at advertising to young people and promising they will fix issues that affect young people, like housing, without actually having an idea of how to fix it. The Greens are sucking up all revolutionary potential in this cuntry and directing it into culture war bullshit to ensure that capitalism isn't touched.

I've been thinking… would it not be best for leftist orgs (read: orgs with marxist or anarchist-communist ideological foundations) to focus on building the infrastructure for intensified class struggle while we're in a period where legal reformism is "the" method for progressive concessions? What I mean by this is shifting focus away from propagandizing over the issue of the month and infighting over positions in various bourgeois institutions, instead pooling resources to create supply hubs or collective spaces where revolutionaries can operate without having to pussy foot around liberals.

Shit like:
- Consolidated guides for where to source materials for making propaganda for cheap/free. Places which may be able to print for free, friendly art collectives, that sort of thing
- Collective "commie houses" where organizations can store equipment or host events
- Organizing food networks for emergency situations or to support people who may be put into dire straits as a result of political action
- Teaching revolutionaries practical skills such as vehicle maintenance, basic water filtration, personal fitness
- Funding or supporting worker's coops to provide funding and employment for different projects
- Formulating some sort of framework for official cooperation between various orgs in a manner which is more than a casual agreement not to step on eachother's toes

Is the strategy not to build dual power? Does dual power not require a material base for it's independent operation? It's obvious that protesting every weekend has little to no effect on government policy and that the state acts practically without the consent of the people. Trust in the capitalist class and the government is weakening every day and so the best thing to do would be to build the foundations for parallel institutions. If we take to heart the lessons of communist thought, we must realize that one day, push will come to shove. If the left has no fallbacks and no preparations for times of crisis, we will be paralyzed when they hit! Indeed, if we ever had the political momentum to force a crisis, we would be in an infinitely better position if we had structures ready to go.

Finally, material wins that prove that workers can act independent of capitalist institutions are exactly the sort of wins that really attract people.
It's one thing to say:
<We won [X] workers a pay increase from the capitalists!
or
<We stopped deforestation for [X] months!
But another thing entirely to say:
>We have a network of coops that need no capitalist!
or
>We have free seeds for all to revitalize native ecosystems in their backyard!
It's not to say that the former don't have their place, they do, but the latter are a step towards challenging the legitimacy of capitalist institutions instead of trying to work within their narrow rules of what is allowed as political action.

I'm sure there will be some anarchist organisations who do that depending on where you live. Sure it might be fun and rewarding but I disagree that's the way to build a revolution or "be ready" when the time comes.
>Oh our liberal society is descending further into fascism and everyone is losing their jobs, what are we gonna do?
>Come over to my dilapidated squat and grab some seeds bro, grow veges and shit.
My understanding is that dual power is about partial seizures of necessary infrastructures etc which requires the backing of the whole or at least a large portion of the working class. So you have the transport workers, the logistics workers, the health workers etc on your side. And finally, ideally the police refuse to put down the revolution because of their own sympathies. You don't build dual power out of backyard working bees or skills workshops. Not saying that's not worth doing though but it's more anarchism than communist from my understanding of things

>My understanding is that dual power is about partial seizures of necessary infrastructures etc which requires the backing of the whole or at least a large portion of the working class.
I agree, that is an aspect of what I'm trying to get across. That is, being able to have some sort of system in place to manage such seizure, provide material support and technical expertise on extra-legal matters.
Note specifically my point on:
>- Organizing food networks for emergency situations or to support people who may be put into dire straits as a result of political action

Imagine, for some reason, you have a Coles warehouse go fully revolutionary and the workers seize the place. If an anti-capitalist support network that has the technical expertise to distribute all those seized rotisserie chickens exists, it would be able to incorporate the newly seized warehouse into a wider network instead of having the workers twiddle their thumbs and wait for the cops to smash in the doors.
Maybe the cops do and some workers get jailed, but some some loose their jobs they relied upon. If positions could be opened up in friendly coops, they may be able to provide a guaranteed (though temporary) form of income until the revolutionaries can find other work.
Maybe one of the workers did some real radical shit and has to lay low until it's safe for them to return to normal life. It would not do to have them rely on people who do not share their politics to hide them or cover for them, thus, commie aligned safehouses may be an effective alternative.

We cannot wait for the masses workers to spontaneously rise in arms to prepare. Indeed, if communists cannot show that they can handle things even on a small level then why would the revolutionary workers even put their trust in such people? Because they have good slogans? People talk about optics a lot, whether some set of people looks cringe or based etc, but I think what's more important is if an org looks capable (both on a theoretical level and on a practical level).

>You don't build dual power out of backyard working bees or skills workshops.

Solid agree. Though, the cadre to facilitate the construction of dual power will be trained in backyard working bees and skills workshops. You must remember that for all intents and purposes, the communist movement in this country is starting from square one. To build communism, you need communists. Good communists. In addition, having some sort of fun and encouraging self-development is a better way to keep comrades around than attending a march every weekend and doling out newspapers to sell to impressionable teenagers.
>Sure it might be fun and rewarding but I disagree that's the way to build a revolution or "be ready" when the time comes.
It might not be a revolutionary example, but think back to the coronavirus response.

I saw a million and one "mutual aid" groups pop up practically overnight, mass distrust in government officials after multiple mishandled quarantines, wide division in the ruling class over what exactly to do and a huge shift of wealth globally towards the haute bourgeoisie. This could have been the left's perfect time to strike, to get itself back on it's feet.
What happened instead? Nothing. Even worse, a mobilization of reactionary forces and the mass dissemination of conspiratorial ideology. We were and are, essentially, still riding every knee jerk reaction to global events. We were not ready.
I'm not going to blame anyone though, even the most correctly minded revolutionary communist would have been simply a drop of lucidity in the ocean of madness. The infrastructure for revolutionary action simply did not and still does not exist. As such, no party cadre of any form can be put to effective use. Even agitprop is useless if noone can afford to print the posters in effective numbers.

TL;DR: To understand class warfare as warfare is to understand the necessity of constant preparation and improvement of revolutionary forces, whatever form that takes. If the foundations are not built, the fortress will not stand.

>implying I, or any of my comrades, can afford a car + fuel
Seriously though, good idea. However, the point is that simply doing charity work is not enough. Indeed, if you stick to that only, you'll end up being outpaced by churches and liberal charity orgs who can do charity a thousand times more effectively than you and who have an interest in maintaining the status quo.

For those in the crowd, I'm not saying not to do it, but to:
A. Make a point to try involve as many other progressive orgs as possible in a coherent manner.
B. Identify objectives aside from the obvious provision of supplies such as disseminating progressive ideology (climate change and it's relation to capital, the uncaring nature of big business etc.)
C. Establish and maintain support networks for events beyond the immediately unfolding crisis

>Journalists, editors and senior media figures from the newsrooms of the ABC, Guardian Australia, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Schwartz Media and others have put their names to an open letter calling for greater scrutiny in the reporting of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

>The letter has drawn a stern response from the ABC, with the public broadcaster warning staff that signing the letter may bring into question their ability to cover the story impartially.

>“As I have said several times recently, maintaining trust and credibility as an ABC staff member means you forego the opportunity to share your opinions about stories on which you report or may be involved in,” ABC’s director of news, Justin Stevens, told staff in a note.
>“You should not sign any petition that may bring into question your impartiality or that of the ABC’s coverage.”
>In early November, more than 200 ABC journalists participated in a meeting at which a number of complaints were raised over how the public broadcaster had covered the conflict.
>Staff shared frustrations over the broadcaster’s unwillingness to use terms including “invasion”, “occupation”, “genocide”, “apartheid” and “ethnic cleansing” regarding Israeli government policy and allegations made by human rights groups. The broadcaster’s managing director, David Anderson, said while taking talkback calls on ABC Melbourne last week that it wasn’t the ABC’s place to use such terms.

>A statement from the executive editor of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, Tory Maguire, and editors of the mastheads said any newsroom staff who had signed the letter would be unable to participate in any reporting or production relating to the war going forward.

There was a thread last year for liberal studies discovering shit everyone already knew. Here's one:
Allan Fels's ACTU initiated price gouging report calls for government to act against exploitative practices of big business
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-07/allan-fels-price-gouging-report-cost-of-living-crisis/103431866
>Banks, supermarkets, aviation and energy companies are exploiting their market power in ways that drive up inflation and hurt Australian households, according to the former chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

>The report by Allan Fels found that rising prices were not just caused by true inflation but often by greed, corporate gouging and "profit pushing" by companies with too much market power.

[…]
>ACTU secretary Sally McManus said its findings confirmed "what working people suspected".

>"Some big businesses have added to inflation and have too much power over customers, workers, and supply chains. This needs to be reined in," she said.

>"The gaming of the system in the wholesale energy market is particularly concerning.

>"Generation makes up 30 per cent of our household bills and Fels asserts there is gouging in the system which is causing workers to pay too much. Action here could have an immediate effect on our cost of living.

It gets to me, too. I hate it. I love this country and its people, but there are many times where I sit and think about how there is something truly rotten at the core of "Australia", or whatever you want to call this continent. I can't remember or find where, but I remember reading somewhere about Lenin's frustration with the Russian people during World War One, wondering when the slaughter would be enough to motivate people to action. I can only hope that the right will continue to be nothing more than disorganised hooligans with a nazi aesthetic rather than a serious threat while the left gets it shit together. Hopefully those pseudo-reactionary teenagers will do nothing but hide behind their IP addresses and not actually do anything but try to look intimidating.

Unironically, if more people actually read Lenin and locked in for commitment to the cause we'd be miles ahead of any other political cause. Australian Socialism will become reality, I'm sure of it. The Eureka Cross will fly over Canberra one day.

I do understand this, but there was another thread where CPUSAnon made some great points about how the Fascists of today aren't much more than petty street gangs with an aesthetic, something CPUSAnon called "Witch Doctor Politics" (Pic related).

<The problem with modern Fascists is beyond broadly not reading their own theory, they take what I'd coin the "Witch Doctor" approach to politics. They elevate politics to purely performative rituals in the hopes that it'll mean actual power. Y'know in some way Patriot Front is more genuinely American than any other Fascist group out there because they're concerned with appearances and how they appear on camera rather than doing anything "offscreen."

<But yeah, like I was saying. Most Fascist only have political expression without political construction. They'll do things like hold a sign with an inflammatory statement out, threaten to start fights, then throw up a nazi salute. It's like the atomized white guy's version of a flash mob.

<Let's go back to Patriot Front: they're training in marching formations with shield and club tactics. Beyond just embarrassing themselves, it reveals they're trying to make the brownshirts without having a real reason for them. They recognize that early Fascists had bodyguards, but they can't understand why the various shirts-militias existed in the first place, or what they did other than "fight leftists."

<Mosley's Blackshirts beat up tax collectors trying to get some church tithe from farmers. The Brownshirts sold cigarettes. juilossW's Blackshirts were more combat oriented, granted, but it wasn't like they didn't have people winning hearts and minds-Casapound set up a youth hostel and health clinic. The Falange supported workers co-ops.

<Can anyone say what these groups do other than shit their pants in public? What makes the thing even more comical is that most of these guys aren't, like, psychotic combat veterans. Shit, from what I saw in the Patriot Front doxx it was mostly pasty-looking suburban nerds with, like, one violent former felon among them. So you've got kids who think they're hard because they smoked weed once in highschool tagging bus stops. Plus these guys are terrified of consequences, so while the blackshirts were willing to get their teeth knocked in and do flagrantly illegal shit, up to literally assassinating their political enemies, these guys are just petty hooligans with a Nazi aesthetic.

As >>1827238 noticed, the NSN chapters, for example, don't really do much except show up, march around and have their little larp, and then piss off. I'd go further and criticise even Fascist "Theory" like the book Siege is pretty shit, actively encouraging lone-wolf style terrorist attacks - or, what Anarchists of the late 19th century called "Propaganda of the Deed", which we on the left learned a century ago is not an effective strategy for recruiting likeminded people. I'd be more concerned if they set up a street kitchen or something. They have their gyms, sure, but that's not much compared to, say, all the Union and broad front organising an org like the CPA does.

>>1826852
the revolution will come to those who want it. There is a difference between us and the rest of the Anglos. Australians and New Zealander/Aotearoans are not, broadly speaking, fucking retarded like the Brits, nor backwardly close-minded like the Americans; or cucked into oblivion like the Canadians. We have a legitimate chance, I'm sure of it. This country was built on the blood of black martyrs and the sweat of white slaves. Remember that people of all colours hoisted the Cross of Stars at Eureka in 1854, and when the redcoats tried to cut nonwhite folks out of the concessions they were willing to give the miners told them to go fuck themselves. Reaction is prevalent in this country, yes, just look at r/AustraliaCirclejerk, hell, even in Tf2 lobbies I've gotten shit from other Australians for being an open Communist. But I've met far more Communists in Tf2's Sydney servers than I've met reactionaries. And even if it is just us, well, hell, all that means is we've gotta work harder.

Personally, I smell opportunity in the air. People are pissed at Labor and know they're full of shit. But the Liberals are worse, people still have that in the back of their minds. If we were to inject real class consciousness into their minds, and supplement that with a real alternative- "Australian Socialism", or "Socialism with Australian Characteristics", even - and we organise properly and militantly, I am certain we could make some real change. We're not outnumbered. We're out-organised.

Combat Doomerism. Kappa.

I consider them training under a belief system that aims to use that violence against already marginalised people in our society a bad thing, regardless of its effectiveness in establishing a fascist regime. Ditto for their ideological leaning towards lone wolf attacks.

Remember, these were the ones trying to recruit Tarrant when he was known to be plotting a terror attack by observers.

No, a fascist state isn't around the corner from them, but they are also growing a lot more effectively than any antifascist counter-otganising at the minute which should concern us, because the target of their ineffective violence tends to be working class people at the fringes. If you have no interest in defending working class people by eradicating fascist organising, stop calling yourself a socialist of whatever variety tbh.

Thats not CPUSAnon's analysis thsts just a basic observation of large segments of fascism in the West since literally world war 2..
These people are extremely dangerous and need to be combated, and it does not matter 1 bit if these people are far from power, the important part is people with power are willing to set them loose and utilise them for their own violent needs.
We don't do antifa because there is a serious chance these people are gonna take power, one would have to be a downs child to think so, we do it because these people when organised are extremely dangerous to the communities we live in and around.

>Every far-right group in this country absolutely glows, and has a belief system that is so antithetical to the interests of elites that they simply won't be allowed to acquire any influence what so ever.

Maybe there's a case study in this, how fascists' yammering on about da jooz and muh africans is completely alien to what Rupert and Gina et al are interested in. They just want to keep the exports and subsidies going, completely in line with the Americans. If the time came for "oh no, the commies are getting a bit scary, time to get some right-wing crackdowns going" 99% chance they'd just funnel all their efforts into the far-right faction of the LNP. Why would they give a shit about some racist cookers in victoria?

That said, it does need to be pointed out that another good reason why the Centre Party/Guard fizzled is because they got their shit kicked in by Communists. We shouldn't be complacent.

My personal prediction is that the next large political battle in Australia that will have a significant racial dimension is immigration. Not in the context of quality of tertiary education, housing or wages - since those are by design or locked in; but the growth in unfunded capital expenditure required by states to support rapid population growth. It will also challenge the sustainability of the PBS, Medicare and NDIS. My bet for the next five to ten years is an increase in GST to support the states, roll back of social programs and general fall in quality of life. Elites will need someone to blame at that point.

I will quickly say Commissar has some good points. As for neo-Nazism's efficacy: a few socialist groups, trade unions and mediocre Muslim orgs have done infinitely more to hurt da joo in a few months than neo-Nazis have in the same time plus seven decades. They have passion but no strategic skills, and no tactics beyond attention whoring and attempted terror. Like I mentioned in that thread, and like Commissar said, maymay warfare and PotD siegefaggotry is not going to work. After off-shoring all of our shit they want to bring shit back on shore. Our government should learn lessons from South Korea, Thaliand and Taiwan. Our only domestic plastics manufacturing capability just closed down because of high gas network prices.

You need to start from the bottom and build up rather than randomly picking shit like solar panels which we have zero competitive advantage in.

The Coalition tried this with weapons. Again, we can't do it, because we don't have economic complexity. We just procured some shit from local branches of Thales and called it a day.

If you think of our political class as people who have not involved in intellect or ideology since the time they entered student politics, their economic policies make a lot more sense.

>We recognise the role that technologies like end-to-end encryption play in protecting personal data, privacy and cyber security, but there is no absolute right to privacy

>Without their help in very limited and strictly controlled circumstances, encryption is unaccountable,

>In effect, unaccountable encryption is like building a safe room for terrorists and spies, a secure place where they can plot and plan.

SEP are faggots. They are ineffective ultra retirees who have no solidarity with other comrades, whether it be other parties or worker unions. I have a hard time justifying ranking them above the bloody Greens. At least the Greens ""work"" with other groups instead of being a whiny parasite.

That was all over the news, like mainstream news. So I don't see your point that a small fire believed to be politically motivated would be talked about on social media, even just by people at the event they were telling everyone at.

Because the far right was under extremely close scrutiny after da joo won WW2.
But watch what will happen now.

Jeez, literal textbook terrorism. I've been out of the media for a couple of weeks but this is just fucked.
Zionists really out here losing all support among moderate liberals.

also did they just throw fire bombs at concrete and metal? Idiots

And, by scrutiny, I guess you mean 'being funded by the CIA'
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Gladio

White Nationalists work hand-in-hand with other racial separatists like Black Nationalists and Zionists. Zionists want Jews to feel unsafe in the US, Europe and Australia, so that they will go to Israel and fight. They love what neo-Nazis are doing. Socialists, on the other hand, actually threaten their wallet by enacting workers rights and community building. The far-right are too strategically bankrupt to endorse anything smarter than Siegefaggotry, which just kills a few people and changes nothing. The result of a fundamentally broken analysis of society.

A far-right kiddo would do more to achieve their goals by just pretending to be a leftist. Hell, it's what the NSDAP and ᴉuᴉlossnW did.

The difference is white nationalists don't believe the Jews are literal devils and it's hard to get average white people to hate Jews. Islam teaches that Jews are the spawn of Satan and that's why Mohammed and his followers did this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banu_Qurayza

That's pretty tangiental to the point, anon. In fact, the people doing the most damage (in the West) aren't even Muslim.
